Nina deserves to be SHOT !!

Hi guys,

Yes, I'm talking about my sister, Nina Irani, who is here on holiday!!!

Take a look at the picture below....and guess what she had to say?

Her exact words: "Next to that Breitling, the Rolex looks pretty ordinary!!"

So what should we do, guys? The guillotine, gallows or firing squad??

You should make her polish and shine these babies for the next month... she'll learn to respect both!

I have to say JJ, she is right and I am not a fan of Breitlings, although I really dig yours a bunch.

But to non WIS it is about looks and not always the name or engine.

So true JJ!!!!!

My finacee (who i'm teaching to appreciate watches I got her a Cartier Roadster) and all others who don't understand our unhealthy obsession with wathces, say the EXACT same thing about my Rolex when they also see my Breitling.

In fact I think more people are impressed w/ my Breitling than my Rolex or Panerai.

Spencer I can understand the Rolex, people see them all the time. But the Panerai? Those people need to be commited.

I actually recieved a compliment today on my PAM, but most people just think they are cool because of their simplistic nature. But I am yet to have met ANYONE who is actually familiar with the Panerai brand/history.

That's just it with the PAM if you arent in the know and have never heard about them you really are'nt sure what to make of that big face with the fairly minimal accents... I know I didn't really notice them until I did a little research regarding their rich history and now I really appreciate those babies... maybe some time this year it'll be time to own one?

That is not a bad thing at all mate!!
I wore the 88 today and met a guy wearing a 111. Pretty cool to see another Pannie and he knew what his model number was and also what mine was.

I love the 88. I was going to get the 88 instead of the 111, but figured I'd start off simple at first, then upgrade to the 88. Hopefully this year I will get the 88 and a SS Daytona

And a CEO looks pretty normal next to a pimp, what was her point?

That's a classic example of Breitling's design policy: Take too much of everything, drop it in a blender with a quart of cheap whiskey, slug it down in one long guzzle, then puke it all back up and add a bracelet.

Yuck. I've never seen a Breitling that appears able to make up it's mind what it is.

Your response is not in keeping with the light tone and humour of JJ's start to the thread.
You are entitled to your views on Breitlings. JJ seems to be enjoying his Crosswind and there are likely just as many Breitling fans out there as there are Panerai fans who love their watches.
I do not care for Panerais myself but I'm not about to trash them just because of that. You like them. I do not. I like many of the Breitling models.
Breitling has a well earned high place in the horological world.

I have to take issue with you, Micah. This Breitling knows exactly what it is - a tough technical marvel that has something for everyone - day/date/month calendar, chrono, moon phase and math (slide rule). What more could you ask for?

That's okay, Micah...I've known you a very long time. Nina's remark was made in a lighter vein, but in reality she does find the Breitling very attractive as do all the others in my family.

In all fairness to Breitling, it is a very solidly constructed watch with a finish that defies the imagination - EXCELLENT!! It runs a time-proven and extremely robust Valjoux 7750 Chronograph/COSC tested movement which has been spot-on accuracy from day one.

The weight and heft of the watch feel just about right. Haven't weighed it yet, but it certainly is heavier than the TT YM which is 146 grams.

I hope to keep this one a long time!!

Fair enough, and you're right; Breitling makes a fine watch and many people seem to really like them, just not me. FWIW, I had no idea that particular Breitling belonged to JJ, I meant no offense to JJ and sorry if I caused any.

JJ, I do apologize, I honestly didn't realize that the Breitling was yours. All this time I thought you were a Rolex-only kinda guy, and assumed the Breitling was someone else's that you photoed next to your YM. I didn't mean to shred your choice of watches at all, by all accounts Breitling makes a fine watch, I just don't care for their stylings is all. Sorry about that

Hey, hey, Micah....relax and take a deep breath, my friend. No offense taken whatsoever!! LOL!! All you did was speak your mind out and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Frankly, Micah, I was NEVER a Breitling fan myself. Honestly, what happened was I walked into Watches of Switzerland last Wednesday and just happened to notice the SALE display cabinet where this watch was also propped up along with a few Speedies, IWCs, Royal Oaks....etc.

I liked the watch, but then what caught my undivided attention was the absolutely ridiculous low, low price of only NZ$ 3,500 (US$2,400). I knew then and there I had to go for it.....it was too good to pass up. Mansor's Jewellers, just up the same street, were offering the same watch in black dial for NZ$1,700 more than what I paid at WoS....i.e. NZ$5,200.

So you tell me, would you have passed up such a golden chance? I just grabbed it!! So please don't worry about a thing, Micah. All is well!! Our friendship means a great deal to me!!

Cheers - JJ

C'mon, Ed. You've seen 'em. Some multi-complicated watches offer timekeeping as a very low priority.
