Certainly never heard anyone panerai was more rugged than Rolex.

My fathers 112 was still working after a hard drop from a dresser onto tiled floor, I guess thats why i think its more rugged. Not to mention their ETA's are cheaper to fix and service if they do break. Either way both are solid

They will never replace Rolex for me. That being said, I love my Panerai's and enjoy changing straps over and over more than I should! Lol

Panerai forum here seems to be pretty healthy, so think the brand is doing fine.

Paul's blue dial above is very nice, I'm gonna try one on next time I'm in town.

Thank you, Neil

You’d be very hard pressed to find one though, unless a grey has one. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide and OP boutique exclusive. Here’s mine yesterday on a racing tan Teju lizard skin.

I own and love both brands.

I'd been looking for something different than Rolex for quite some time. I sort of rotated through most of the Rolex popular sport models and frankly became a bit bored.

Then I stumbled on this one ... I'm so glad I took the leap into the Panerai brand.

Come see us in the Panerai sub-forum

Someone ranting over the Due line on YouTube and that means Panerai is dead? You clearly have no clue about the brand or it's history and your claims are based upon the opinions of one man who doesn't like one model in the Panerai line-up.

Come back with your own opinion based on your research and the facts that you can provide. I could eat a bowl of alphabet spaghetti and better reasoning than what you've come up with so far

Panerai isn't for everyone. The brand has its flaws and not every decision they make is the right one. Used values on the majority of the watches tank so my advice, FWIW, is to buy right to begin with and minimise any potential losses.

Most of us, though, don't buy for future resale value or as investments. We buy for the love of the watches and the brand. You either get it or you don't and I'm ok with either. I am not ok with people bashing the brand just for the sake of it with zero knowledge of Panerai, no facts and no evidence.

Very nice! I want #1 and #3.. Curious what car you are driving?? Is your wrist about 7.25"? IMO Rolex and Panerai go together well especially if one is interested in the history of the two companies. When I started thinking about watches a year ago Panerai, Rolex, and a couple others were mentioned to me by a watch enthusiast acquaintance. I was a Navy Submariner in the early 80s. Luckily I was able to attend diving school at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. When I started looking at the watches and brands mentioned Panerai was the one I was most excited about as an ex Navy scuba diver. The first 21 years of Panerai watches are basically Rolex watches with a Panerai name. I would like to see Rolex starts producing 42 or 43mm submariners.

I have a love for blue dials so when I saw the 690, I guess you could say it was love at first sight. I drive a 330e

I drive a Lexus hybrid, but all black interior. I like the better choice of interior color options in Audi or BMW. If not the 690, the blue skydweller stainless/gold 42 will be on my radar too.. I'm starting to get sucked in....

I also own both. It is fun to change the strap on the Panerai to give it different looks. But my go to are my Rolex watches.

I agree. My personal collection would be incomplete unless they were both represented. Funny thing about the Pam though, I didn't "get it" at first. It wasn't until a friend insisted I wear his for a week. When I gave it back I started looking for one the next day.

Yeah same here...never really thought it would be for me. But took a chance and purchased a 510 to “test the waters” with Panerai. And while I no longer have it, it’s been replaced with the 422 which I anticipate will be a mainstay.

I’ve had three Panerai dating back to 1998 and nine Rolex since 1984 so I’m in the “both are great” camp. The only negative thing that applies to both brands I think is the “good old boy” system that limits distribution of the most desirable models so that a more casual buyer can never hope to get one at the dealer level.
Back in 2012 I attended a Paneristi gathering in NJ while visiting NYC on vacation. What an eye popping collection of PAMS, from one of the original 40’s versions to all of that year’s LE’s. Alas, said owners seemed to be spending $100K+ a year on their hobby, I am not in that stratosphere so will forever have to choose from the more pedestrian choices.

The Panerai are popular with the new rich in LA from what I’ve seen. I guess something new, different and expensive. A surgeon wearing his was very proud when I asked about his watch in his office. A gift from his wife he said. Looked like a 44mm black face. List $12K.

I've looked at the Paneria watches and find them attractive, but too large for my 7" wrist. In the 36mm to 40mm is my comfort zone. I also think twice about spending that much on a Paneria when, for a little more, I could buy a Rolex. A watch dealer friend advised me that I'd take a much bigger hit on resale going with a Paneria than with a Rolex. I don't flip watches, but I have sold a few to fund others. I've had expensively poor luck with Pateks over the years and extremely good luck with Rolex.

Had to look up on YouTube how to pronounce Panerai. Owners have fun correcting you on the enunciation. Never did get what they said.

I had to listen to the YouTube more than once. It is a tricky Italian sounding name.

I’ll stick with Rolex. That’s easy.
