Ok. When I started this search I had a full head of hair...
and I'm about to pull all of it out trying to decide on the right watch. I keep going back and forth on these two watches. I had all but eliminated the djii and had decided to go with the Pam, but each time I see one or read about it, the thought of having one creeps back into my head...
This quote was taken from another thread I started so you guys will have some reference in terms of providing your responses.... My lifestyle- Daytime = lawyer = suits (no business casual) Evenings = dinner out, movies, hanging with friends, and of course wife and kids (4 and 17) = polo shirts, dress shirts with sleeves rolled up, or casual t-shirt, jeans/slacks/shorts Weekends = anything goes (range from suits to casual t-shirts, jeans, slacks, shorts) Vacations 4x year = Hawaii to Carib to Europe, etc. Please help out here; which would you choose and why?? I can only get one so please don't recommend getting both.... Thanks!! |

Hi, I would go with the Rolex but then you are asking on TRF! :)
But it seems like you like the PAM more? |

I figured asking in the panerai forum would eliminate some of the bias... :)

As for why, I think the DJ is a classic and timeless. Having said that a PAM looks good too. |

Datejust gets my vote aswell. the PAM looks great but I think it doesn't look as professional as the Rolex with your job.

A 359 will be fine on 7 1/4. It'll be a normal sized watch for you. A dressy gator would be perfect for the courtroom and the rubber for the pool. I can tell you want the Panerai, so get it.

I'd vote for the Rolex as well. Just seems more versatile as mentioned above.

I agree and would also go with the Rolex for an "only". This because it will go very well for your work attire as well as with shorts and just about anything... Its a Rolex. I have and have had several Pams but I do not wear them with suit/tie... Just my .02 for whatever it is worth. Good luck you really cannot go wrong with wither

Rolex is a better fit for your "day job" and if you are like most people, that is where you spend most of your waking hours.

If you're young and are
an ambulance chaser type of attorney, then the Pam suits you just fine.
Otherwise, I'd go with something classy and conservative like that DJ |

If I could only have one watch, I'd get a Rolex, but more likely a sub than a DJ. You can wear a sub anywhere and it looks great. From tuxedo to swimsuit and back again.

Do you own any other watches? From the two watches you posted I would go with the Rolex. Not a big fan of that particular Panerai. If it was another PAM, then I might go PAM...

I would do the Rolex over that particular model. If it was a Rad or Luminor then I would choose different. That fiddy case is thick and sits too high on the wrist. It really throw the balance off. People need to stick to the historics

Both are nice watches but I'd go for the Datejust2. Both can be worn from daytime activities to European vacations but what I think the Datejust has over the PAM is that it can also be worn in more formal events. You can wear it with your suit or a tux while the PAM still need to be justified as a formal watch.

Pam is just as versatile as the DJ in my opinion. Except maybe if you're wearing french cuffs... With the option of changing the straps, it pretty much goes with anything. It's just a cool, rugged looking watch.

that's really tough....both are great watches in their own way. i don't agree, though, with the view that the PAM is showy and the DJII is conservative. that DJII is pretty bling bling, IMHO.
bottom line, you can't go wrong with either choice. good luck. |
