GMT on carbon strap

Looking to tone it down a bit

I think it'll stay on for quite awhile!
Happy New Year gents and ladies

That is one of the nicest combos I have ever seen on a Rolex!! I really like it alot!! Funny though, I have been wearing the YM recently because I kinda still am a bracelet guy at heart.

I go through stages. Eventually the bracelet will go back on, but I'm just enjoying straps right now. You know how much fun I have with them

I actually hated the thought of straps before I became friends with you, LOL!! I have put on the 88 for the rest of the night, it is on a DON carbon fiber with white stitch!! Tell me a bit more about your strap, what where etc....

Hmmm, I don't know, Bruce. I'm sure the strap is comfortable, but visually it takes some getting used to. Not sure yet if I like the look. But, hey, that's just MHO.

I think, in general, Rollies look best on the bracelet they came on. It does take some getting used to Ed, I agree. I've just seen a ton of pics of GMTs and Subs on different straps, mostly on military type forums so it's not a shocker to my senses when I see it

LOL I did totally ruin you I believe I got this from a place called lonestarstraps or lonestarwatches. Something like that. Bob Davis has a NICE looking Di-Modell Carbon strap with white stitching. I may just have to get one for my business research

I tend to agree with you, Bruce. But then I do like this TT DJ on the leather strap.

Bruce - That is a great looking strap. Where did you purchase it? Also is Bob Davis an online seller? Thanks.

That strap is very nicely set off by the wine/black bezel. Wear it in good health!

Thanks and welcome. Bob's site is mywatchmaker.net. Take a look at the Di-Modell carbon. I think I got this one from lonestarwatches.com, but it's been awhile. The Di-Modell is probably much nicer.

Gmt Looks Good

Hey Bruce:
A GMT MASTER II with a carbon strap. Fantastic idea man. Three questions please:
  1. IS IT CARBON OR KEVLAR?
  2. DOES IT FEEL COMFORTABLE IN HOT WEATHER?
  3. DOES THE STRAP FIT TO THE LUGS WITH THE SEL SPRINGBARS?

My 16710 is a little uncomfortable on the wrist with the SEL bracelet in hot weather. We are currently in very hot weather! I thought of Nylon and rubber, but they are worse. The carbon strap might be the answer.

Fantastic photo's Bruce!!

Thanks Steve! It's carbon. I had an Omega kevlar once and hated it. One of the most uncomfortable straps I've ever had on Honestly, I've not worn the strap enough in hot weather to have an opinion. I hear of a lot of guys who do though. They aren't very expensive so you won't loose much to try it.

It fits the lugs just fine. Covers up the spring bar. Like most straps it doesn't cover the side of the case all that well, but it looks good enough for me.
Cheers,
Bruce

I agree with you on the Kevlar strap, Bruce. My Omega X-33 came with it. I wore it with the Kevlar strap about 3 times and immediately got rid of it and replaced it, first with a leather strap, and then with an Omega bracelet. I can't stand the stiffness and roughness of the Kevlar.

That was the knock on the Panerai velcro kevlar strap, but I have been surprised to find that it soften up real nice and I am itching to get that baby in the ocean in Hawaii in a few short weeks.

I've heard kevlar loosens up, but I didn't have the patience or the wrist nerve endings to spare

NIce Bruce. Kinda like my ExpII on the carbon. I find it quite comfortable. I've been going back and forth between the leather and the carbon. I haven't had the bracelet on in about a month.

I'm lovin' this John! I even put a deployant on it for grins (you know I haven't always liked them), and forced myself to wear it. Now I'm lovin' that too!!

I ordered a Di-Modell carbon from Bob 'cause I'm doing my product research He also got some quality single fold deployants so I ordered that to try out as well. I'm really hoping I like it 'cause I love Breitlling's single fold, but haven't found an aftermarket one yet that's comfortable.

A guy posted some cool shots of his Seadweller on carbon and shark on the WUS Rolex forum last night. You should check it out. Who says Rollies have to be worn on a bracelet!!

I agree. Although when (note, 'when') I order another strap, I'm going to avoid the curved end straps. The ones at watchprince and I assume most others, have the curved pins and because the pin holes on the horns are a few mm away from the case, it makes the gap between the case and the strap larger, albeit consistent. A straight end strap fills the gap better, and because Rolex doesn't 'finish' the case behind the end link, it looks rough.

Personally I think the padded 'Breitling-style' straps work best with sports Rolex watches, i.e., with contrasting stitching.
