Hello all,

This is my first post on this forum.

I am about to take the plunge on a 114270.

Can you folks give me your general impressions of this watch?

My mind is 90% made up on this model. I currently own a 14060M.

But there is still the slightest chance that I may go with a Panerai 111, 112, or 210.

The Explorer I is my favourite watch and I've been through the Rolex sports models except for the YM and the Daytona. Love the dial

I find it to be very versatile and extrememly comfortable. Generally, I like much larger watches but there's something about the Explorer that makes 36mm beautiful!

Its a horrible watch, don't bother

Seriously its a very versitile watch, maybe its because I have girly wrists so it doesnt feel too small or look too small on me.

Love the Explorer, personally it's my overall favorite Rolex. I just bought a PAM 111 myself, and it's a lovely watch, but the Explorer would be my choice over the PAM if it were one or the other. The Exp. is just utterly classic, versatile, comfortable, historical, it's everything I could want in a watch, including not being complicated by needless extras like a date or other junk. Simple and beautiful.

Writer, a big welcome to TRF!! All of the watches you listed are great. I think the explorer is a great watch and a true classic. But my vote out of your list would be for the 111. Sorry I am a bit biased, see my avatar. I think with the 14060M and 111 you would have two great watches that are both classics and from two different brands. Best of luck in the hunt and please stop by and post often.

Go for it the explorer is a great watch.I wish i never sold mine.a couple of years back that was the hottest watch out.Love the dial.Go for it!!!

Welcome to TRF Writer! I personally love the simplicity of the Explorer. I'd say go for it. Then again I have no Rolex so I'd go for any one.

Submariner first though.

Welcome to this forum, Writer. Just go with your heart. If your mind is so made up for the Explorer, then just go for it. Although it has no complications, it's still a cracker of a watch with a first class movement.

Good luck and do post some pics when you finally get it.

Thank you all for your replies. I will pick up the watch in a couple of days. It's an F series. I will post pics sometime after Christmas.

I love my 14060M, but I am not a huge fan of watches with bezels so the Explorer 1 will probably be my main watch.
