Here is one for the post: Earliest R series Mk1 Porcelain floater with early Mk1 200/50 Bezel. One of only supposed 50 made in SS model and the only 16520 in my collection. This one was bought from Quinson Leung and comes as part of a complete set in pristine condition...

just wondering how these dials can be categorized in terms of rarity from starting from production start 1987?-1998?. Would it be right to say that the MK1 is the rarest and MK6 the least in terms of watch numbers/unique dial characteristics or are there some in-between that don't go in that order? On a whole, would this ref 16520 be considered quite rare amongst the other Daytonas and did they all have the Zenith movement?

as a matter of rarity ( steel model only ) my ranking is the following : 1) porcelain ( aka "porky" ) dial mk1 (5 lines-floating ) on R cases only ; 2) black or white ( non "porky" ) mk1 3) black or white mk2 ( 4 lines ). 4) 5 lines with inverted "6" ( mk3 and mk4 ). about the other marks .. a production estimate is not easy. |

Thanks for sharing, I was unaware that there were so many different dials, the spacing changes other than the floating Cosmograph are very subtle. thanks again,

Excellent!! PS- it was likely due to higher costs that they changed dial.
