PloProf 600 service
Does anyone know if I can send a watch directly to Biene for service or does it have to go through a retailer or service centre in your own country?
My ProPlof arrived today and is not working. There is a horrible rattling noise from the movement... It needs a new bezel, which I allowed for, everything else is good (apart from the movement). It sets date and time and winds freely, just won't run. Anyone know roughly what a service for a PloProf with cal 1002 runs at? (the movement price is listed on Omegas site, but there must be additional cost due to the complexity of the PloProf) I have attached the obligatory wrist shot! Very frustrating.....

Get in touch with the seller and ask them to reimburse you for the cost of the service (or half) unless they disclosed the issues before purchase.
in answer to your question you can send to bienne yourself. someone will give you the details ! or give them a call... |

Watch was sold as having been serviced.. Took it to my local watch guy, he took the movement out, as the bezel locking ring was not tight. The movement is clean, but something is sticking. He will have a proper look in the next few days.
Not a good sign that the sealing system was loose. The watch has 2 service inscriptions inside the case, so that's one good thing I suppose!

If thats the case , get in touch with the seller and demand the watch be "serviced " again, only this time correctly.
Cleaning and servicing are two very different things. |

If movement is clean either mainspring is acting up or oils have seized up somewhere and just needs a cleaning. Either way seller must have known issue....

I am communicating with the seller, I am hoping that he will pay for me to service it locally, if he does, then I am going to pay the extra and send it to Bienne. It will come back looking like new, with papers and a 2 year warranty. Just waiting to hear back from Omega with the cost involved.

An update!
Hope everyone is sitting down! Estimate for service 1664.40 GBP!!!! The movement is totally shot and it will get a new one at 684GBP The bezel is 948GBP!!! The red button is 18GBP I can live with the movement charge, but 950 for a bezel is obscene. I will go ahead with the work and source the bezel elsewhere.

I left my watch at the AD for pressure testing today, as I'm about to go to Thailand and dive with it on monday next week. Fingers crossed...

Wahoooooo
She's on her way back!!! They sent me tracking details, should be here Monday. I am very impressed so far, they told me 30 day turn round, was 33 days. They emailed to check that it was ok to dispatch, I assume in case I was on holiday etc.. If the restoration results are as good as the customer service, Swiss Time Services are going to blow me away... (they already blew me away a bit with the price, but we don't talk about that!)

Swiss time services are really good the level of work is without question. But as you found out, can be pricey.
