Do you feel there is such a thing as the perfect watch? The watch you love without compromising a single thing.

For example I would love the Sub-c... if it had:
- 16610 Case size (still want the new bracelet etc)
- Red Submariner text

I would get the GMTII-c at once... if:
- It had the smaller bezel font (16710), not the cartoonish ones
- 16710 case size (not a fan of the new wider lugs)

A Daytona 116505 would be perfect..if:
- The were no criminals wanting to rob you of yout fine watch.

- If the boss at the office wouldn´t look at you and think "who the h*ll does he think he is wearing a $30K watch"
- If the general Svenska Avundsjukan (Swedish envy) didn´t exist

The Patek 5146J-001 would look almost perfect if:
- If they changed the dial and removed the three number markers to the simple sticks

At the moment the watch that´s closest to perfection is the JLC Reverso. But still, I would like it to be rugged and water resistant as a Rolex.

The search will continue for me and I guess I will own every Rolex model available until I find what I am looking for.

When I was in Beverly Hills last year, I went in Philippe's Watches. They had a 16610, but the previous owner customized the dial to get the "SUBMARINER" printed in red! SUBMARINER it was quite neat! I didn't have my camera at the time, my folks had it they were out taking pics of Rodeo Dr. Also tried on a 1680 RED, it was quite beautiful!

That's like asking if the perfect personality exists....even the most outwardly positive people can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

There are excellent watches, but if you look hard enough (which I think you are when you are concerned about who will steal your Daytona) you'll find something to pick on with any of them. True love means you make it work and you learn to love those little issues...lol...sounds like I'm talking about something else...lol...

Anyways, this one's as close to perfection as I've ever been...

thats why you go white gold. no one will ever know the difference. i just picked it up, have not gotten even one second glance and i could not be happier with it. i may even brush the PCL's.

then again, the perfect watch will always be in the eye of the beholder.

I actually thought of that. Studying mechanicalengineering and productdesign at the university. So there might be a chance of that in the future.

Until then I might have to redesign a Sub-c and make the guys at work go crazy with the CNC milling machine.

The DSSD would be perfect if it didn't have the curved crystal, which distorts vision, taking away depth of the dial.

Hmm no it doesn't.

If I had to pick only two watches they would be the Royal Oak and the Nautilus. They are the closest it comes. Kudos to Mr Genta on that one.

The curved crystal is one of my favorite parts about the watch:) I think the way that it distorts the light gives the watch a very unique appearance and the dome actually increases readability under water.

If I could change one thing about the DSSD to make it perfect, I would build the case/bracelet completely out of Titanium to keep the weight around 160 grams max. I have never had a problem with the height of the watch, but it does have a very high center of gravity that I can definitely feel by the end of the day.
