Thoughts on cartier watches...

Cartier watches exude elegance and class. And their movements are respectable. The finish on their watches is very high quality and some of the best finishes of any luxury piece. I would certainly consider Cartier a manufacturer of luxury timepieces.

Does anyone have any experiences with the latest Tank Solo automatic?

I tried one on when I purchased my quartz tank solo large, it is significantly larger which is an issue for me since I have got rather small wrists.
And I honestly like the simplicity of the dial on my watch, I don't need a second hand and date feature on a small rectangular dress-watch.

The extra-large mechanical tank solo isn't that much more price-wise (about €500,- more than the large quartz model I believe, which is very reasonable, Omega for example had a +/- 1k price difference between the mechanical and quartz Seamaster 300m, which is a bit too much imo.)

I have a Cartier Santos Galbee XL like the one pictured above that I get a lot of complements on it. It's built well and has taken a couple of good wacks in its time and never misses a beat.I don't see to many of these out on the street.

It is indeed a very classy watch, and the design is pretty much the same as the original Cartier Tank.

Purchased a new Tank Solo XL Automatic last week. Looks great. Have received lots of compliments.

I agree. These watches definitely have a following. I like the models with the sapphire blue stone on the crown.

I remember the 1980's tank watches were very popular for men and women back then. For me however, the tank design isn't as appealing as the Rolex Sport watches....

The brand is moving in the right direction - lots of recent R&D and the new in-house are pushing it more towards being a watch company than ever before.

I love the tank, but still have to go with a Reverso as my favorite 'tank-shaped' watch.

I'm a big fan of Cartier watches. I've had the Pasha and the Ballon Bleu for 5 and 4 years respectively without any hiccups. I just got the Tank about a month ago, I have liked it for a long time and finally gave in.

There quick release bracelet system is the best out there for strap changes. Definitely a high level of refinement.

BTW, I purchased a Pasha Seatimer Chrono 3 yrs back from dutyfree, before I learned of this forum. Love the details and its reliability. ETA movement works very well and I had no issue of it.
Seeing lots of Cartier replica on-line, which in a funny way leads me to think that it's value is recognised.

Cartier makes wonderful watches IMO and should definitely be considered a serious watchmaker. My father has had his Tank Solo since the early 90's and it still looks as classy and elegant as the day he got it. I'm hoping to pick up a Tank Americaine in WG or YG in the foreseeable future.

that's a killer trio you got there beaglehusky...i'm a gold fan but that tank in steel looks really clean.
