Old Rolex value ?

Hello

About 15years ago I inherited some stuff from my grandfather, some were very important and some less. I forgot about the Rolex cause when I moved recently I found it back in the box of 'less important but to keep cause its from my grandfather). It's an old one, I think around the 70-80's if that's possible? It ways 97grams in gold and has 10 diamonds in it.

For the gold I can get €4OOO or $5360, I don't know the value of the diamonds yet... But my question is... Is it better to sell the gold and diamonds seperate or to sell the Rolex to someone who likes it ? Will it be of big difference... Cause if it won't I rather sell it for a little less to someone who is a fan or likes it.

Hopefully some of you can help me cause I have to decide before the 1st of March.

Grz

A gold Rolex, if original, is always worth more than the gold value of the watch.

Thx

And what about the diamonds. A friend of mine is studying something with diamonds (recently) and she said they could be worth €10.000-25000 (coz she would have to remove them to see how clear they are, but they are prety big)

Let's say €10.000+4000= €14000 ($18760)

So I don't know what to do... I rather have someone buying it who likes and wears than selling the gold and diamonds seperatly...

Post pictures and we will let you know. If it is 97 grams of gold (without the movement) then are we talking a MIDAS? Or, if the dial has diamonds maybe it is a big President? That just seems pretty heavy. And, for 97 grams of gold, if it is 14k you are only going to get, at best, $30 a gram or about $3,000 in gold value. If it is 18k you might get about $40 per gram but that's still under $4,000 whoever quoted you that amount might be thinking of the watch movement, the gold, and the diamonds because $5500 would be about right - given the condition - for the whole thing.

How do you know it's fake ? I was sure it was real cause all the other gold I got from him was always real... This is strange...

For every real Rolex-owning grandfather there must be thousands of ... well of those other grandfathers.

I have read the first post again, and laughed again, of course.

Someone goes through his heirloom, finds a solid gold Rolex studded with diamonds and puts it in the box of the "less important but to keep cause its from my grandfather". And we keep reading...

Well it is true, how can you tell it's a fake ?!
I already sold a Dupont (lighter) for €3400 and some cases with kitchen utensils, one was complete silver, the other half silver half gold, and the most expensive was the case with the 18k gold and diamonds... How come they were all real and just the rolex is not?
You're all laughing at me but can you put out the points which prove it's fake then?

Take it to an AD and have them open it up, that will give you a better idea. I mean, one fuzzy picture and you expect a group of experts to validate your watch is a bit pretentious don't you think? Do you realize how many cooked-up 'grandfather' stories these guys have heard? What did you honestly expect?

Actually it was very easy to validate it with that picture.

PS. You avatar is still annoying.

Now you still didn't tell me how it was so easy to validate it with this picture ?
The story bout my grandfather is really true, I recently moved out and found it in a box of all watches and stuff like that.

But geuss it's true maybe the story is used to fool people but I'm not trying to sell anything. I just had some questions about it.

Well for starters the entire watch looks crooked, nothing lines up.

Take it to a jeweler and open it if you do not like the responses you are getting here
