Where do these wild and unique dials come from?
I'm by no means an expert, but in looking on Chrono24 and the bay, I come across dials like this that I've never seen:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beautiful-Bl...item27ced5dcc5 There is a seller on Chrono24 who has '60s DJs with bright yellow, orange and red dials. Is the answer as simple as I suspect? These are non-Rolex dials? I quite like some of them, but I know they should factor into the value. Thanks, Dave |

I suspect that they are not rolex dials as I do not see any funky dials in any of the books.

There are dials called "Stella" dials that's are quite rare for daydates....datejust not so sure. I will say that rolex has a long history of trying to please customers and may produce an odd dial here and there...

Stella dials are very nice and indeed very rare...that isn't a Stella though.

No worries upstarter. Some guys think any colored dial is a Stella. A Stella DD in turquoise or Oxblood is sorely needed in my collection!

These days you can pretty have anything you want when you order a repainted dial. If you want I can paint you a pink dial with the circle T of a 5517 and meters first and black lume.

Ha! Other than the pink... I'm actually having a custom dial made for a Steinhart OVM in a Milsub style, but with my son's name and birth date in place of the actual text. If my dial printer can't do it, I'll let you know!

I heard that Stella dials were made a while back for the Middle East market. They did not sell and most were destroyed. Not sure if this is correct, just what I heard.

These are not Stella dials . . . this is something custom-made . . .
Just the same as the green yellow red pink colored dials (on Ebay) . . . but if you like it . . . why not . . . We all know that they are not genuine . . . but what if Mrs start asking for one . . . HAGWe
