Bought my first Rolex a week ago... Love the oyster and a smooth bezel. Already looking for the next watch.
What do you guys think is the nicest looking dial for the DJ? Mine has the Black Roman Jubilee.

Best Dial has got to be the Ivory Pyramid dial. You got to love the 3d affect it gives the watch. I am a little biased since that is the dial on my DJ.

Does anyone know if the Datejust bracelets are made of 904L steel like the case is?

To be honest, if I was to chose a Rolex, I reckon I would not chose the DJ but as I have mine as a family legacy I would not swap it for any other model and during these years spent together I kind of came to love it.
A 16234 with Jubilee bracelet and dial. |

Movement-wise, I believe the big jump for the DateJust was in 1977 with calibre 3035 (Ref. 16013), the frequency was increased from 19,800 to 28,800 bph and, I believe, it was the first to have Quick-Set. Here is a link, FWIW: http://www.chronometrie.com/rolex3135/rolex3135.html

I have been wondering the same thing myself. I kind of like the new Jubilee dials(rolex rolex rolex) and was thinking of trying one on my 16220, that is IF I can ever locate one for sale.

The difference between a Date and Datejust is the size. A Date is 34mm and the DJ is 36mm. In relation to which bracelet is more appropriate - that is a matter of opinion. There is a school of thought that the Jubilee looks better for formal occasions. There is also a school of thought that that fluted bezel works best with jubilee and bracelet and that domed looks better with oyster bracelet. Wear it how you like it!

Hello, I want to ask, is there any rolex pearlmaster for men? I just find ladies rolex pearlmaster. I like this model, not "too sharp and oldish" like oyster or jubilee.

My Datejust
Here is my Everose Datejust. I love the fluted bezel and the rose gold. It is a D serial that keeps time spot on. I bought it from an AD that was going out of business.

Some versions have "roulette" date and some do not?????
Any way to tell which do and which do not on the current collection?? I just found out about the roulette date on another thread....i think its a great feature and really adds some charisma to the design!!!! |

I just picked up my '84 16014 from a full service - I love the acrylic on this one. Now to wear it or put it in the safe?? ;)

IMHO the 116233 csj - is the optomy of the Classic Rolex, with the full Jubile Bracelet. Tho the 11623 (earlier model) is well worth consideration, just because...of cost.!
The 116233 CSJ with full Jubilee Bracelet, for my 'Dress watch'. is what I'm looking for...! |

Just brought a 1980s TT DateJust 16013... as gift for my daughter...
I would like to print out some information on how to care for the watch how best to set the time and date and how long is the rest period and include the details for her to keep... Please can someone offer me this information in simple language that she will understand. (BTW I know what to do... but telling her ... and she is mostly likely to forget) |
