I've had a piss poor experience at the rolex boutique at that mall as well. Despite purchasing a few watches from them they still treat me like hot garbo. I've decided that rather than be upset I can't purchase a Daytona that I can afford I can pretend like i'm saving up money for a PP or VC that I can't afford lol.

I’ve never shopped at Kerns. What’s the vibe like?

The CH boutique, and related stores, in the Valley Fair area of San Jose/Silicon Valley has been a pit of bad customer service and snooty attitudes for awhile. I had negative experiences at the CH Premier store and at the IWC boutique they run not that far from the CH store.
I believe they also run the Panerai and JLC boutique there, and they've just opened a Vacheron boutique as well. I think the Rolex boutique is run by Licht & Sons, but don't quote me on that. I've had a negative experience there as well. Being completely open to the possibility that it's just me, I think this is what the "luxury" watch experience has become. As they raise prices, and everyone is chasing the same high-net worth individuals, which is a dwindling number given how much wealth in being concentrated in this country, they just have no bandwidth or patience nor feel any need to build goodwill with "regular" customers. Frankly, I think they are cutting their noses to spite their elitist faces, but if everyone is doing it, where does an enthusiastic non-billionaire watch collector/customer go? |

Went back a few times and either Jay was unavailable or not in the store that day. I was helped by this other lady SA more than once. (I wish I could remember her name) You could feel the vibe was not as sincere as Jay's. On one visit, I reminded her that I was really interested in a Pepsi. She immediately brought me over to the Tudor counter and really put the pressure on me to buy a Tudor Pepsi. Saying that it's a great watch and it's available right now too! I agree that both were valid points. She said that we have to start with something like this before we can help you get the Rolex Pepsi. Also valid and not unexpected as we all know. I mentioned that if I bought the Tudor, that she might be able to help me get the Rolex version? She immediately turned a bit sour, raised her voice and told me......."I have people who come in here and spend $100K in jewelry and I can't get THEM a Rolex Pepsi! So, there's no way I can get you one with the purchase of a Tudor!" I felt like I was a 5 year old kid getting scolded by my Mother! WTF!?? SHE was the one that insinuated that if I bought the Tudor Pepsi, I could then start opening the door to the Rolex version. That was about 3+ years ago and was the very last time I set foot into that store! |

Ya i don’t have time for those people. My advice is the same to everyone without a purchase history, go to a Rolex boutique or go grey. An AD that sells jewelry has no benefit to get you that watch. They have plenty of customer buying everything they offer. A boutique, while slim chances, only sell Rolex. I’ve hard really good experiences with mayors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Same Jay at the Patek boutique now? I am trying to see if I can do an application and he seems to be open to help. I am new to the boutique after my previous AD was shut down.

I know I sound like a shill, but I've interacted with so many ADs who have much fewer whales than Kern's, and was treated like a nobody. Chatting with Jay was a great highlight to my weekends |

if anything this discussion has really made me want to check out the patek boutique in SF the next time I'm up there for work.
