Best use of a Rolex catalog I've ever seen.

I was scrolling through YouTube today and came across this. I guess this might be the best use of a Rolex catalog I've seen since it's pretty useless otherwise.

The problem I see is that a casual visitor might decide to peruse a Rolex catalog, whereas no one in their right mind would pick up a dusty old volume of Shakespeare or Dostoyevsky.

When I realized that wasn't it I thought he hollowed them out to store watches...

I have the latest catalogue, and would never destroy it, in order to make a secret compartment. I’m guessing he’s not a big Rolex fan. I recognized his voice, so have seen him and his dog, Bond.

I recycled about 20 old Rolex catalogs last week that had been gathering dust since about 2012 - 2015 when I used to pick them up anytime I went to the RSC or an AD.

Why not? I have a few of those catalogs lying around the house. I don't think they have any value. Every time I go to my AD, they always try to give me one.

If you have more than a passing interest in Rolex watches over time, I find the catalogues are a great reference - from the models themselves, to historic prices.

I've got every main annual catalogue from the early 2000's, and a few minor ones from before that, along with various other Rolex-produced publications. I actually bought one of them (to fill in for one I missed), but the rest were all from AD's at the time and therefore free. Great resource for zero expenditure.

Incidentally, hardcopy catalogues from Rolex are now a thing of the past - the last one was the 2023-24 edition - so in future there will be no hardcopy reference for older models.

I tend to agree, the catalogs just waste space in my house. My SA always tries to give me, I basically take as he seems to care far more than me. With that said, I do have a nice vintage Rolex coffee table book which friends enjoy flipping through.

I think this is quite sad really
