Advice needed

Hi all, I was hoping one of the members of this forum could help.
I'm looking to purchase a Datejust 16234 circa '93.

The description states,
'Transitional model Holes Case fitted with No-Holes Bracelet End Links from the factory.'

Does this sound normal? Also, anything in particular I should be weary/pitfalls of Datejusts generally of that range?
Thanks in advance.

Nothing sounds unusual except for them actually stating that.

There should be a date-code on the bracelet that would give an idea if the bracelet is from the same time-frame you would expect.

I wouldn't be particularly worried about that era of DJs - the seller is taking a roundabout route to say the parts don't match.

Calling it "transitional" and getting into the weeds of end-link numbering is one way to defend its authenticity if it's later questioned by a Vintage WIS.

A 93’ datejust would not have solid end-links, which your description alludes to. Also, 93’ is not a “transitional” era DJ.

That’s just strange.

Here's the item I was considering.

I'd be grateful for opinions

Thanks

From the photo's codes it looks like the bracelet is newer than the watch, thus the mention of later end links.

There's nothing really wrong with that in my book.

Bracelet code would suggest 1995. As discussed above, incorrect endlinks but not a deal-breaker. The watch is lovely but the price is high though for standard dial. I’d expect that from a dealer offering some sort of warranty.

Thanks Rootbeer. I'm still quite new to the idea of purchasing a older 'vintage' watch but was drawn to it as I like the proportions and look of the older datejust.
If you were buying the one I linked, what would you say is a fair price for it?
You also mentioned its a standard dial. Are there any variations you could suggest that are more desirable and that would come into my budget of around 5k?
I don't think I'd want to go older than a 16234 as I'd like a sapphire crystal. Are there any dealers/ sites you can recommend where I can purchase? So far, I've only found nice examples on Ebay (I'd go authenticity guarantee) and chrono 24.
Thanks

That’s a £3500-£4000 watch max in my opinion.

Here’s a 1991 blue dial posted in April with Rolex service history from 2019…

Really nice Omar, thank you for that.

I'd love to be able to purchase from the US. It'd likely be from a trusted seller on TRF/ a longstanding member, hut are there any potential pitfalls from buying from over there? E.g customs charges etc etc
Thanks again

Fair price mid 3’s. I have a few connections. I’ll see what’s around.
