I feel your pain. I noticed a quite a deep scratch in my Daytona (just below the 'PER' on the bezel) in September last year and was torn between polishing or leaving it. I took it to RSC Singapore and it's too deep to polish and requires bezel replacement. I've since learned to live with it and might consider a new bezel come service time in about seven years or so.

I wouldn't stress it until the next service but then I would consider putting it right. You might change your mind by then though and find it is all part of the character of the watch.

Hardly anything to freak out about its a tiny ding easily rectified at next full service.

Tom nailed it.

I'd just add, RSC will make it look like new come service time. My Sub is considerably more damaged than yours because it's worn 24/7. The first is the hardest....

I would fix it. Scratches are ok, deep lug damage is not, for me.

Does the RSC do laser welding? it is not that bad watches are always getting dinged and scratched.

At service could you replace bezel?

to Zack;
I own two very nice watches: An Omega 300 (18 years) and a Oris tT1(11 years). Both have scratches on them.

I do not have a Rolex YET but, maybe, one day.
That first ding on your watch is a bummer; sort of like the first scratch on your new car. It is hard but you will get over it. Wear your beautiful watch with pride and joy and pass it on to someone who will also enjoy it.

That watch is designed to handle a lot more than that.

Enjoy it and stop babying it

Got a very similar wee chip/ding on the crown-surround on my DSSD... I think it happened whilst I went out of my way to awkwardly stretch back on myself to hold a door open for a guy who didn't even say 'thank-you' as he passed

You can't worry about it though; it's always going to happen - they look much more impressive with a bit of wear.

I've since learned that I wear a Rolex - people should be holding doors open for me; not the other way around*

*except for ladies of course; one should always hold a door for a lady

I can't wait for mine to scratch - that is evidence of living life to the fullest. Don't sweat it and embrace the fact that your watch is a living part of you.

I would usually leave it there , and each time I see it, it reminds me the place I got the ding or scratches , that my legacy haha.. Until I plan o flip it, it's up to the next owner whether to fix it or not .

It does hurt, but the fact is, it's only the first of many marks your watch will acquire.

This is the reality unless it will live in a safe.

Dings are painful indeed. I have chipped ceramic and still live with it.

I would fix it if laser welding costs only $70. If it were a few hundred, I wouldn't bother.

All my watches have more 'damage' than that. You can't go through life expecting things to remain perfect.

Now if my crystal were to get scratched or chipped then it would drive me nuts, but anything on the case or bracelet should be expected.

Will Rolex polish a ding of that depth all the way out? Wouldn't it affect the shape of the case?

The greatest movement is at the links near the case, on both sides.

It's not terrible, but noticeable.

It even bad. Learn to live with them and you'll enjoy your watch much more. They're going to happen. Wear the $h*t out of it and in 30 years time it will tell your story. Nothing cooler than having your watch become a part of you.

Leave as is... Every single one of my watches past, current, and I'm sure future will have scratches. While the first scratch is always more painful. 5 min later you're back going about your business and the scratches following are not even noticeable. The only time I do not wear a watch is in the shower, when specific training requires no rings or watches, or while visiting a manufacturing site where dress code specifies that no watches or jewelry can be worn while on the floor.
