Near new condition quartz are on eBay starting at 1200. That seems like a good deal. The spring Drive $4800 GS can easily be found for under three grand…

Was offered 10% off an SBGW297/299 today from WoS. 36.5mm 44GS case, 18mm lug, manual wind 9S64 with 72 hr PR. Gorgeous dials. Not a super hot model AFAIK, but one of their newer ones.

Should be more off? It's basically just free tax.

Not when considering GS quality, and the fact that you'll quite probably never need to get it serviced even once in your lifetime.

Is there really such a thing as a $50,000 grand seiko? This looks exactly like the $5000 one to me

I just bought my first GS, the classic sbg201. I wanted this particular model. I had been on Chrono24 for a few days, and found some really great deals, but ended up paying a bit more as I found nib on Jomashop of all places. With a coupon code of 50 dollars off (lol), with their discount, it came out to 21% off msrp.

WoS not willing to discount more than 10%. Seems strange since I'm seeking a manual wind model that isn't popular. Oh well.

It totally depends on the store you are buying it from.

Data point for the travelers:

If you're in Japan, I was able to get ~20% off on a SBGA443 in August. This was from Oomiya in Kyoto.

Same for me. I love my 9R65 watch and wear it for my own enjoyment.

If one categorizes the GS Spring Drive under the broad "quartz watch" monkier, it speaks volumes. I dont think you need to justify anything. GS continues to push forward the tech behind their designs. Some folks get it.

Next, I got my eye on a 9SA4 watch next. Another leap forward for GS. SLGW003 on the radar.

I’m interested in the Wakaba with the pastel green dial. $7700 MSRP is silly. eBay dealers have them new for $5200 or so.

My conundrum is - will GS release more colors / dials in this sweet 38mm size soon? And will I do better than $5200 in Japan later this year…no Vat but I’ll likely have to pay duty coming home.
