Incoming 51866g

Finally got to the AD…was a bit worried about size, but it’s still a great fit.
Having trouble uploading images, but hopefully more to come…

Thanks so much! Really love the dial and I’ll have to see if I have to pick up another strap for summer size wise

My wrist isn’t particularly big and pretty skinny so I was quite surprised at how well it fits…

How did you get all of the color out of that watch?

It really is a chameleon in terms of color. I actually prefer the darker look but when I tried it on in the boutique the lighting made the blue quite vibrant so I took it outside and it looked much better to me.

Apologies for mistyping the Reference, was late and in my excitement I transposed the numbers. Will try to get it fixed

Great pic up! Looks well on you.

Is it a 5167a or a 5168g? Looks a lot like the steel reference in that lighting.

Thank you! It’s the 5168g.

I’m quite pleasantly surprised at how dynamic the dial color can look depending on the lighting. Now that I’ve had a chance to wear it out and about for a few days I’m amazed at how the shade can change.
Only thing I wish Patek would do with their composite straps is add an adjustment on the clasp like my Oysterflex.

How do you like it a few months in? Including the fit.

Honestly it’s been hard to give my other watches wrist time. I own 7 Rolex and another Patek and I still reach for this one the most. I think I’m beyond the honeymoon phase.

The one thing I don’t like is lack of micro adjustments. When I bought it, the weather was still warm and I like my watches snug. It was a bit too snug so I bought an extra strap that I will have sized this summer. Now that it’s cold here the fit is perfect.
Bottom line is I love it

There has been a fair amount of discussion on TRF about the size of the 5168G.

What are your thoughts on the size?
Is it too heavy?
Is your wrist just under 7’’?

I am considering the 5168G and would really appreciate your insights.

I have a 6.75” wrist and pretty skinny. The fit is great and definitely no issue with weight.
I’m pretty focused on how a watch fits and I was worried about size before I tried it on based on discussions you mention. I highly suggest trying one on

All good. Thank you for the insights on this. I've put it on my wrist (i.e., held it on my wrist) several times, but I realize that's different to actually getting it sized and wearing it.

From what I could tell, it fit well and not that different from the 5167 - which is why I've always been surprised to see some of the posts on TRF that characterize the 5168G as very large.

I'd love to get one. An open question as to whether it's possible for me to source one from a Patek AD as my first Patek and where I have no purchase history. We are about to find out ...

When I considered the purchase and expressed the question of size, they let me try on a couple of Aquanauts to compare. That convinced me the size wasn’t an issue for me. Good luck!

Congrats on the pick-up!

I read that a lot of people aren't convinced about the 42.2mm and some says it's too big compared to the 67's...

Maybe? Who knows?

I think it fits pretty ok on a 6.5 wrist

Easy wearing, comfortable (even on a snug fit, like snug snug), very legible.

A win-win imho

I have a fairly skinny wrist, 16,5cm. for me the 5167 and 5164 are the versions that fit better. 5168 is a little too large and the 5968 is huge. the 5066 also has a very nice size, although small for some people.
