What’s an appropriate age to start wearing

Shoes with velcro laces.

Asking for a friend.

When you can't bend over or crouch down.

However velcro at that point is the least of your problems.

Get the speed laces. All three of my little boys love them. My youngest being 8 can still get lots of shoes with Velcro but for the older two these are awesome. You use your regular shoes but remove the regular laces and then lace through with this elastic cord, like Keens sandals have. Then you cut the cord so your lave ends are the right length and connect a plastic end piece connector to the ends to clean it up. Both ends go into the single end piece. There's a tension clip between your top shoe lace holes and the plastic piece at the end of the laces, so you can loosen and tighten them up. You can get infinite color combinations and they are so much faster, easier, and more comfortable for many reasons. They also flex and give, too, versus cotton laces which don't.

There are two ages when Velcro laces are appropriate. Ages 2 and 102, possibly several more in between.

My watch strap uses Velcro. Love it!

So tell me, and be honest, how bad is it?

How much time do I have left?

My bowling shoes have the BOA lacing system, which works very well in my judgement and can be adjusted on the fly to accommodate swelling and shrinking of the foot during changing conditions, such as temperature and humidity.
