San Antonio Watch Shopping
Gents,
I'm heading down to San Antonio in a couple of weeks and I have no idea on the lay of the land with respect to watch shopping. I'm interested in looking at Rolex, Tudor, Omega, IWC, JLC, Grand Seiko and Cartier. If anyone has some insight or a good sales associate they could put me in touch with I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, MJ |

Have a great trip MJ!
I love San Antonio, unfortunately I haven’t been there for a number of years, but my work used to take me there quite often 10 years or so ago |

Mine's a work trip too.....My brother and I are on the same team and are going a day early to do some watch shopping! I'd love to stumble into the new Air-King, but if not, I'm leaning towards finally pulling the trigger on a Speedy Pro.

Lee Michael’s with two locations and Moretti’s with one have Rolex and a few other brands but do not list anything you mention other than Tudor. Looks like there’s an Omega Boutique in town too. I have a watch buddy there who gave up on Rolex and bought a new Speedmaster a while back. Good luck. Like any good sized city with Rolex and Patek dealers, there are plenty of local customers to support them.

I live here in SA. Lee Michaels at La Cantera, ask for Jessica. Likely won't have anything for you to buy in the Rolex dept. but there are exhibition pieces and she'd like to show you what they have.
Moretti's, Son Min is very nice and always helpful. They have exhibition pieces as well. The Lee Michaels at North Star is not worth the drive or the trouble. Omega store at La Cantera is also nice.

Let us know how it goes. I was down there end of last year for an event and didn't find anything.

San Antonio is no different from any other city at the moment relative to Rolex watches. Zero inventory and a long wait period.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I have had at Lee Michaels. Nothing for me over the past year and a half.

In my experience, when you walk into an AD while traveling they just smile and nod whenever you talk. Gone are the days of dropping into an AD off the beaten path and finding a grail piece in the case. I've done that in places like suburban Denver and Jackson Hole, but that was 10+ years ago.

It would be absolute dumb luck if I scored a Rolex on this trip. I’m quite open to a non-Rolex while I wait for my polar Explorer II from my local AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Diamond and Jewelery Gallery off I-10 W near Huebner Rd has a large selection of pre-owned and a few new Rolex watches. Other brands, also.

I agree, take some time and stop by La Cantera!
ROLEX, Tudor, and Omega are very close to each other. Jessica at Rolex was very nice to chat with. Tudor had an almost empty display case and Rolex only had exhibition pieces. Special shout out to Steven at Omega!! Very legit SA. Enjoy your trip! |

Anyone sell JLC in the area? I’d really like to see this chronograph in person.

My wife and I decided to spend a few days in San Antonio after a Bonaire dive vacation. What a beautiful city!

The two ADs for Rolex honestly aren’t worth your time.
The Omega Boutique is ok…but I’d only purchase from an Omega boutique that you can frequent. Omega tracks your purchases for access to limited availability pieces (ie Snoopy, 321) and they don’t aggregate all your Omega pieces from the boutiques. Just the one you order the limited availability piece from. There is a Breitling boutique that is in La Cantera (along with Omega and a Rolex AD). They are actually owned by the Rolex AD but it’s a nice change of pace and the new Breitlings are quite nice. |

Gents,
Thanks for all of the recommendations. I had a blast watch shopping with my brother. I didn’t buy today, but only because I liked too many. No Rolexes to look at. I was underwhelmed by Cartier after being high on them. Top 3 in no particular order: 1. Mint dial Breitling Navitimer was sweet!! 2. Speedy Pro. Loved the updates to this model. Strong contender. 3. Panerai Submersible. Machismo. Impressive. I want them all, but need to keep it to one. No idea which one to get. Oh also, Tudor Black Bay 58 looked really impressive. Amazing watch at such an affordable price point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Weirdly, the SA watch buddy I mentioned in post #6 texted me today to tell me the AD delivered his Sub last Friday, after an almost year wait I think.

What do you currently have in your collection MJ? Of those that you pictured above, I’d be partial to the Panerai

I paired it down to just the Explorers. But the steel is going to my son when he graduates from college in a few years. I should be getting the polar Explorer II from my AD this year! I’m patient. I’ll be picking up either the Panerai or the Speedy in the next couple of weeks! I’m just trying to find a deal, if they’re out there. If anyone has a good contact for a Panerai, please let me know! Also, thanks for asking T Bone! The Panerai is the one I’d most like to get soon.
