I'm considering a DD in the near future (No later than next year I hope) so I really appreciate the trio comparison shot and learned comments. I, too, had difficulty seeing the 'finer points' of the redesigned DDII and DD41 when viewing them individually. Although the bezel on the DDII was clearly larger and the case had that "Maxi-Case" blocky look which I dislike, those Romans look very odd scaled down. (IMO)

Don't get the notion I dislike like these rededigned watches! They're beautiful and the 36mm and DDII are SPECTACULAR in person! I've yet to try on a DD41 but I'm certain it's as gorgeous as the other two. I certainly understand how tough it will be to choose amongst the three. Despite the DDII being discontinued, NOS or previously owned is an viable option.

Thanks again for the pix which I will study carefully before the 'trying on' phase. To those who already own one - congrats on having great taste.

Happy Holidays to all,
Mark

Definitely like the DD40 better. As others have mentioned the bezel on the DD2 looks to big

I prefer the chunkier design and sportier look of the DDII

can I confirm that based on the photos above, the DD2 is "boxier" and less rounded than DD40? it looks more like an AP Royal Oak or a certain style of diver watch, which is why many perceive the DD2 as being more sporty and having a stronger presence than the dressier DD40?

It wears more like a sky dweller

Thanks. So same idea, it subtly feels like a larger, chunkier, more sporty pilot watch even though it's only 1 mm larger and you might not be able to articulate why it looks a little different?

DDII - Sportier
DD40 - Less Sporty

Dial Choices Make up my mind BUT I like dials from both BUT prefer the DDII overall

If scouting for secondhand, is it safer to just buy DD40? DD2 prices seem to be much lower right? I'm trying to understand how to feel out DD prices for this.

Or just buy what you like?

Holy, nine year old thread revival.....The DD2 has my vote. Just like the more muscular look of the DD2.
