Power Reserve, Service requirement

I have a GMTII which is 3.5 yrs old. Recently I have noticed that the watch is regularly stopping which i accepted as relatively normal (I do not keep it on at night and work in an office during the day), after a few occurances I decided to test the power reserve using the methods often discussed here and found the reserve to last around 14 hours on several occasions.

Assuming an issue with the mainspring I put it in for service (with the UAE authorised service center) and they have reported back that the due to dried up oils the movement has low amplitude (no figure given) which is causing the power reserve to not sufficiently fill up (they did not give a figure of how long the power reserve lasted during their tests even though it was specifically mentioned as an issue - is this part of a service normally?).

Reading around it seems to me that amplitude is far more related to the speed of the watch rather than the power reserve? Are my assumptions correct? In which case it sounds like I might be better to get the watch back and do some more tests on my own and if still having an issue send it to the UK or other RSC?

I've no issue having it serviced, I would rather just know that the service is being done for the right reason by the right people.

Thanks for any input on the question

Amplitude is effected by both the power reserve (could be a problem with the barrel or the mainspring) and if the oils had dried up. But I would find it hard to believe it is the oil due to the age of the watch. I've seen watches over 20 years old still running with good amps.

The problem sending watches to service centres is you will be told you need a service. And that will fix the problem. But a service on such a young watch is unusual to say the least and I would be feeling quite hard done by if I was you.
