116520 Panna F Series Good Buy?

I am debating whether or not to purchase a 116520 F serial that has developed a gorgeous panna/cream dial. It appears to be a later F judging by the fat hands of which I prefer the fat to skinny . Originally, I was set on keeping it to P series but given I have not come across any I like I have expanded to later serials.

Asking is 20.500 euro which I feel is high considering it is a later serial and the broader economic environment. I also wonder if waiting a year till this virus nightmare settles would be better because I can not honestly see any watches appreciating at this point in time.

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Does it come with papers??? Very nice dial but definitely needs a polish....price is high but that’s about what they cost with a creamy dial like that

No box or papers. Concerning a polish, I don't think that would be a good idea, I started my collection with vintage and just a quick look at vintages models that have previously been polished reflects a lower price. Plus, I prefer the character.

I’d stick with P and K serial numbers. Unaware F dials displayed this transformation...

Has the glass been replaced? The watch looks as if its been attacked by 180 Grit Paper yet the glass looks scratch free. Maybe its just the angle the photo was taken?

Speaking for myself not a huge fan of the modern day Daytona even less with those with a defective dial, thats well overpriced because of the internet hype over such defective dial flaws

I completely understand your point of view, but I disagree. I think the dial adds uniqueness and looks better than the white.

I try not to speculate on future prices because viewpoints and tastes change, but at a high level, these are hard to come by which could potentially add to it's collectibility. Though at the end of the day I am purchasing because I like the watch.

That Daytona being an f series would be 2003 which is perfectly correct to have a panna dial.
Those particular Daytona’s are hard to find especially with that kind of patina on the dial and thus are priced accordingly. It is a beautiful unique dial and a great reference to own and only increasing in value.
I would personally have it serviced by Rolex and as a consequence would then have service papers and a fully authenticated watch which would also add value.
It certainly isn’t overpriced and the description of a defective dial merely represents an inexperienced comment and sour grapes of someone who doesn’t own or has the knowledge of that kind of watch.

I think “baked dial”.

Here two daytona serial P and Y. Panna dial for me is light cream. Dark cream for me, it is baked.

Sorry by bad english.

The picture in afternoon son also makes it look a bit more creamy. Put that sucker under fluorescent office lights and it’s likely about as white as most others. For my $$, the creamy color actually makes the watch less appealing to me.
