I bet you missed it a lot but you have a few nice ones to pass the time. I'd like to ask or maybe you could do a separate thread(with pics) on how it came out. I'm curious as to the results and your opinion of how it looks. Tia...

I have never bought a watch sober. That would be boring.

"Helped" my buddy buy an IWC at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas once. We had been slightly over served by Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. I remained steadfast, and didn't break out a credit card myself.

great story!

I can’t believe I just read this entire thread and this is the only fun story that was shared! I didn’t realize TRF was the beacon of sobriety, Loosen up guys!

I bought my 114060 while on vacation in Aruba. I had visited Gandelman earlier in the week to scope out the Rolex selection and tried on a 114060. This was in 2017 when you could still find one in a case at an AD. Anyway my wife and I had a lot to drink one night at the beach bar (the Ritz-Carlton bar is pricey but they mix shockingly strong drinks) and somehow I convinced her to go back to the store just to have a second look at the watch. I think I told her I wanted her opinion, date or no-date. Woke up the next morning with the watch on my wrist and some priceless pictures on my phone. We have one particularly hilarious picture of the two of us popping champagne and toasting with the SA! I probably would have bought the watch later that week anyway, but now it also has a great story attached to it! It’s only money!

Two major break throughs (at least one) in chemistry were tied to intoxication and dreams, iirc. These were Kekule's identification of the chemical structure of benzene and Watson's identification of the DNA structure. Kekule dreamed of a snake biting its tale and Watson of a spiral staircase.

I think I now know why Vegas is famous for not giving discounts. and I have made one or two purchases in the past with just a bit of liquid courage. Until recently, it would never stop me from bargaining the best price.

I have a strict rule - I don’t post on TRF if I have had a few libations.

Honestly, I would find it shameful to even glorify or flaunt such behavior as acceptable. I would think this to be embarrassing showing a lack of judgement.
I know for many employers(particularly government employment), researching your social media account history is part of the job interview, this wouldn't look too good.

I feel like we need someone to play the part of ‘Daryl downer’ on my next guys trip. Can you come?

And I was going to tell you about the time when Charlie Sheen and I decided to....

I decided to pick up 88mm of cold Rolex steel after a night out with a fellow TRF member a couple of years ago. Incoming post here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=572144

No drunken Rolex purchases for me (although I may have had a couple before jumping on a great deal on a 1016 a few years ago). But this beautiful Seiko was definitely the result of plenty of good red wine!

In that same night I won all that money I was walking around the casino with the money in my front and back pockets....went to the bar and spent a small fortune on scotch(Mcallan). Then took a PJ home...
Drank enough booze and champagne to kill a horse...when I was walking off the plane the carpet was going squish squish...got a bill afterwards to get the plane cleaned...then had to call my father to pick me up from the airport cause I was hammer time. Still had money left over to help pay for some of the wedding stuff. As Hunter S. Thompson said “anything worth doing, is worth doing right”.

The best excuse for drunken behaviour I've heard.

Based on your user name, I gather you must be sober quite frequently

I still partake in alcohol consumption especially when the Mrs is in the mood for a bottle or two during dinner or on our backyard patio on a nice evening.

I just need to be very careful how much I consume and if anything she's making sure I don't go near my limit or it'll be a " frustrating " evening to say the least?!
