He who hesitates......

Well I finally went for it,....bought myself the Yacht Master II Regatta.
Now, it's nearly 9 years since I sold our 39ft yacht. To sail that yacht and other smaller yachts we had before, I sat and obtained my RYA Yachtmasters certificate. But all the time we owned her, there was no way I could ever afford the YMII Regatta. Always there were mooring costs, annual lift out and hull cleaning, new equipment and sailing gear to buy. The YMII blue dial was not totally to my liking, so I went for the 116689. If only I had had that watch sailing at night, the countdown could have been used timing lights on marker buoys seen dimly far off. Now in my retirement, we shall be at Cowes Week and I shall use the countdown when the cannon goes off. Blazer and chinos....OK Yar!

Excellent! This watch sounds perfect for you.

Even though this is a Rolex forum your subject line caused a double take. For a second I thought it read "He who hesalites".

Sounds like yacht ownership is quite expensive.

I think it was JP Morgan, who responded when asked the price of his boat, “You have no right to own a yacht if you ask that question.” A variation of, ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.’

And the oft-repeated maxim: The two best days of a boat owner’s experience- the day you buy it, and the day you sell it.

You got me looking up my Concise Oxford Dictionary and there are just 6 words beginning 'hes...' (no hesalites?) Perhaps I need a new Dictionary as well

Yes,...the YMII, a great watch and within seconds of putting it on my wrist, it was so comfortable I forgot I was wearing it.

Hesalite, I wonder,...can that be methyl methacrylate?

Thing is, I'm going to wear it and I know that WG is not so resistant to scratches as SS, but I shall wear long sleeves and make sure my wrist doesn't come into contact with rough surfaces.
When, after saving up for a couple of years and I then bought my SS GMT in 1980, there were no ideas then about 'babying' a rolex watch. I used to lay on the beach (yes in UK, west coast) and of course the bracelet became scratched. This was refinished a couple of times by RSC, but the raised Rolex 'crown' on the clasp, got to be worn down by re-finishing to be almost flat . So I have learned....so my long sleeve sailing fleece is going to stay pulled down, but I'm gonna wear that watch!
