Trying to put the focus on Moda into perspective.

Am I correct that Moda requires payment of a fee to join?

And am I correct that Moda is primarily used by dealers buying to resell. In other words, wholesale?

But you are required to be heavy 'social media' user in order to qualify. TRF history and LinkedIn don't count. (I don't do FB, Insta, Twitter, Snap etc)

No fee just a few hoola hoops. Basically you just need a real Facebook account not a join date of yesterday and a pic of a horse drinking beer.

It’s a mix but mostly Johns. There’s like 50k members but like TRF they have their regulars who post inventory daily.

The one feature I do like is they will middleman any deal for 1% so if you see something but are unsure of the seller that’s a good feature. I’ve used it.

You won’t hear me argue any of that. Been saying it for years. They forced the public into risk on assets. It was the genesis of the housing bubble in 08 and created the correct mantra “don’t fight the fed” thereafter. The primary justification for equities was where else are you going to invest for the last decade.

Agree. Hindsight it 20-20 but it seemed pretty clear awhile ago a lot of the things going on weren’t substainable. And acting sooner on the rates would have led to a softer fall. But seems inevitable now we’re in for some recession and it’s just a question of how long and how painful. At that point watches become secondary for people like me, as I’ll probably do more window (or browser) shopping than actual.

MODA- brand new green bezel sub ‘Starbucks’ just sold for $17.5. Full set. And Moderator banned multiple people for 14 days for commenting on how quick market is dropping. Wowza

Rates will drop and the fed will start to print more money than they ever had, they have no choice. It’s either print into inflation or hike into depression, looking back at history they always choose to print.

The fed would cause hyper inflation if they continue to print, the economy already in a recession.

We’re the bans because people were antagonistic by people who were basically trolling and never done business there or comments by other watch dealers?

I’m not sure trolling, but seemed reasonable to mute/ban. It’s a watch market, not a forum. So discussion about the market cratering in someone’s for sale thread seems bad form, at least to me.

Wasn’t necessarily claiming it was good or bad, simply what had happened. People getting a bit erratic.

I listened to the full hour and they never make the case why the market will continue to crater. They just said it will. I mean I get the whole crypto/stocks/recession thing. But will crypto never ever go back up? And what happens if it does?

It’s easy to talk about steel Daytonas reaching $100K when the market goes up and Daytonas reaching the teens when it goes down. But why not talk about market patterns and what could cause a trend reversal?

Two listings for Oyster Pepsis active at the moment. The other is 19.5k after dropping from 19.9k

The 124060 that I previously mentioned (slider w/ card) is still sitting at 11.8k.
It just dropped again moments ago. he reposted this time for 18.9k now for bnib pepsi oyster full set.

I did too, they did mention that what their opinion was that dealers and speculators who were buyers and sitting on tons of inventory have become sellers. I hope sanity returns as I would jump on a ceramic daytona in the teens if their prediction comes true.

I genuinely hope BLRO keeps dropping. Jubilee BLRO is my next desire with my AD.

Totally understand. Every once in a while I will read through the comments on a certain post. I like seeing and following the auctions. Those seem to be a great way to buy a watch. Cheers!

Moda has for the longest time been textbook wholesale. However as of late it seems there's far more enthusiast participation.

Now it seems like it's not retail, but not wholesale either.

IMO Moda is the most efficient marketplace for watches there is. Minimal labor overhead to list and cut deals, no taxes unless in-state sale sans reseller credentials, no C24 fees, etc.

Agree. I think if you pay up for rwb you might find a true wholesale market

Brand new full set Subs (no date) are about to crack $12k. That's pretty close to a 10% premium over MSRP + tax.
