Advice for a friend who needs a watch
My friend is interested in a watch and I can't really put my finger on one for him. Here is why, his requirements:
Big guy 6'4"ish close to 8" wrist Normally wears a huge gshock Wears a professional uniform that is black and gold and suits Wants gold or black (leaning more towards gold because black doesn't pop) Look dressy He feels stainless won't go with all the gold on the uniform He would like to stay under $1000USD Any suggestions with links? Thanks!

Something 42mm or bigger with a thin bezel is a good fit for a big guy. This Mido Commander stickers for a bit over $1k but perhaps there are discounts to be had out there on the market.

My suggestions are a Tissot PRX in gold PVD or the Hamilton Ventura Quartz in gold PVD. If he usually wears a G-Shock the Hamilton should be funky and classy enough to be enjoyable.

Tissot PRX in gold is very much in line with today's styles and all that. Modavo Museum checks all the boxes, especially with the black dial.

I was thinking Seiko. Either a Presage for the gold color or a PVD sport watch.

Tissot a good suggestion. If he likes larger watches, and wants to try a mechanical, perhaps something from the Seastar line. Specifically, thinking black and gold:

Two tone SD43 would be a perfect match for the uniform and the larger build

Some great suggestions here. The Mido is very nice, but of the two my vote would be for the Tissot PRX.

Based on your friend's requirements, I would recommend looking at Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Promaster Nighthawk This watch has a black and gold tone stainless steel case and bracelet, which would match your friend's uniform. It's also an Eco-Drive watch. This watch is under $500 USD. :)
