I tried on the 36mm a few weeks ago and it felt like a dime with a bracelet on it. Just WAY too small for my wrist..

How big is your wrist? When I initially tried the 36mm it looked a bit small only because I had the 39mm at the time, but after a week my eyes adjusted to it and now there’s no going back.

Well aren’t you adorable. Overcompensate much?

For my Johnson you mean? Hey… it’s short, but at least it’s skinny!

Anyway, don’t get too upset by the word dainty. It’s only a watch and it’s only my opinion. I’m happy to use “smallish” or “less big” if it’s less offensive to you.

Looks good, no doubt. But the 39 would look better in a side by side. :)

I did the same. Bought the 39 a few years ago, always thought it looked odd proportions. Sold it and bought 36 recently. It’s perfect on my 6 3/4 inch wrist.

I bought the 39mm Explorer a few years ago and loved the matte dial, but never could get used to the proportions of the dial.

Sold it two years ago and bought a new 36mm Explorer. I tried it for one week and could not get used to the smaller bracelet/dial on my 7.5" wrist and ended up selling it.

Waiting for the new 40mm to be released and hoping that the new proportions work for my wrist.

As far as size goes, either looks great.

The one thing I like better about the 39mm is the EXPLORER text on the bottom instead of the top.

That's what would actually sway my decision when I pick one up some day.

Maybe it's also a sign that this is post #39 on this thread. . .

It takes self-confidence to wear a normal sized watch in a world full of dinner plates on bracelets. Defaulting to weiner-talk is the tell for a lack thereof. Thankfully, it’s a big table and all are welcome here.

I totally agree with you. Having Explorer text on the bottom balances the dial more.

Whatever feels better for you TS , I like my watches a bit bigger but to me there's no right or wrong here, it's all subjective. However , one thing that amuses me is the TRF's obsession with small sizes, maybe it's the age thing as clearly everything gets bigger nowadays from watches to cars and all the other things in-between

Maybe at some point there'll be a 37.5 or 38 mm
