Gilt Explorer 1016

From the last hurrah of Rolex's gilt dial era (at least for its tool watches), this II 66 (SN 150XXXX) arrived yesterday from the kind postman. The dial's slight patina has given the appearance of a very dark chocolate. Very cool!

I recently decided to put the 1016 on a thick brown aviator-type strap, and it really does look sumptuous, a totally different look. It's probably going to stay on it for awhile!
