I’ve never been to the Caribbean, and had no idea it was considered dangerous.

Out of curiosity - what does this group think about Hawaii?

If you can financially afford it, don't bring a watch and buy a new Rolex from a Nassau, Bahamas dealer.

It depends on if you’re staying 24/7 at a resort or heading into the Bahamian towns and local scene. For the prior take as many watches as you wish. For the latter I’d where a casio or seiko/swatch or nothing at all.

I go to the Bahamas 3-4 each year for work. I normally wear a nondescript Omega in places like Freeport, but I wear a Sub, SD or DJ when I am in the out islands. Of yours, I would wear either, but yellow gold definitely draws more attention.

I’d be more uncomfortable leaving a watch in a hotel safe if traveling with multiple. But that goes for all over the world.

Both watches are good for it but my choice would be the GMT.

Technically, the Bahamas are not in the Caribbean; they are in the Atlantic. Generally, though, people tend to refer to the group of islands south of the U.S., east of Mexico, and north of South America as "the Caribbean." I've been all over the Caribbean, and yes, I consider most of the Caribbean to be less than safe, at least if you venture outside of your resort. I've actually been robbed in the Dominican Republic, where a group of gendarmes blocked our road with military vehicles and took our cash. This was on a surf trip with my brother and nephew, so we were not holed up somewhere safe. As for Hawaii, it doesn't feel any more or less dangerous than anywhere else in the U.S. -- although I was also robbed there when someone broke into my rental car and stole my camera equipment. That was back in 1980, though.

Good insights. I was in Hawaii a few years back and agree it felt like the US.

This is sound advice.

We recently sailed to Spanish Wells (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Wells) from Connecticut. I wore a Glycine GL0076 that I've had for ages on a NATO. Does everything that a Sub Date does, but if something happens to it, it won't ruin my vacation.

Personally, I don't understand taking two watches on vacation. You can only wear one at a time, so your other will be "safely" locked in a hotel room safe, but you'll always worry about it in your mind. Get a G-Shock. Be mindful that while wearing a WG GMT around the States may be considered a "flex" or a "statement piece," it is more concentrated wealth that many native Bahamians may see in their lifetimes. An opportunistic thief may have much less to lose than you.
