I didn’t accuse them of selling me a fake watch. I just expressed my concerns over our watches not being “perfect” If Rolex is known for perfection, then why is our purchased Rolex’s NOT perfect? We paid for two Rolex’s, and expect our watches to reflect perfection. Anything less is unacceptable. That’s will be our position when facing the dealer. |

UPDATE:
First, and foremost, thank you for your time reading my post, and helping me with this issue. It’s been nearly a year since I posted my concerns with my newly purchased used Rolex watches from a very highly reputable jeweler in Sacramento, CA. We paid $13k for them. My jeweler acknowledged my concerns by offering to take them to his “guy” to verify their authenticity. I don’t know if he ever did, because I never heard back from him again. I finally went back into the store, and to make my long story shorter, he offered to change the dials to these dials. (My SO had similar issues with his watch as mine. We bought them together.) I was very adamant about NO AFTERMARKET parts PERIOD. He agreed. Last Friday, he sent me these pics of these “faces” (he called them) for my approval. I told him that I want to see them in person first, before he installs them, because I have concerns over some of the 26mm’s illuminating dots, being partially covered by the diamonds. (Again, possibly not perfect) But in all fairness to him, I couldn’t tell if it was just the pic, or if the diamonds were in fact partially covering some of the dots. Unfortunately, he didn’t give me that opportunity. Surprisingly, I just got a message from him tonight that they are ready to be picked up. Your thoughts? |

So this dealer has had your watches in his possession for almost a year since you took them back?

Do Rolex make dials that have both Roman Numerals AND Diamond markers?
This is a crazy story. Do you mind naming the jewelry store, so I can avoid it, as I live in the area? The smaller dial is certainly an improvement over the other one. I’d probably demand a full refund. Something is way off. No reputable jeweler would have sold you a Rolex ,with that first dial. Go, in person, both watches in hand, and ask for a full refund. You may have trouble due to the amount of time that has passed. You might have to sue them. Good luck!

I told them that I feel like all of these changes are causing devaluation of the watch that shouldn’t have had these issues to begin with. They provided no response to my comment. In all fairness to them, Covid was still impacting businesses at the time when we purchased them. |

This story just gets weirder and weirder. No way would I put up with them having these watches all this time, with no satisfactory resolution. Go in there and confront them!

Yes, as soon as I get this resolved I will. Last edited by HeartHarlez; 24 January 2024 at 07:18 AM.. Reason: Better to name the jeweler than to “hint” to them. |

Looks like that means Sharif Jewelers : https://twitter.com/sharifjewelers?lang=en
No reason not to name them/protect them yet hint who they are anyway. At least this way (naming them) your hint won't be misconstrued in the future if the Kings change jewelers. |

I have gone in there several times. They keep promising to take care of me. They gave me appraisals, but I requested a “letter of authenticity” which they haven’t produced. Appraisals from their own hired appraiser doesn’t convince me that they are authentic. |

This whole interaction from the jeweler is totally unacceptable. I would send the watches to a RSC to verify authenticity. If they say its a fake, etc. I would ask for a refund for both of the watches .

UPDATE :
Jewelry just called me and assured me they are authentic manufactured Rolex dials. He told me that he will show me the invoices of the new (used) dials to ease my mind. Said he paid $1k for each one. He also sent me a pic of their backs since I had requested it. Here’s the pics of the backs of the dials. I had voiced my concern about some of the diamonds maybe covering part of the illuminating dots. He said the 26mm doesn’t come with illuminating dots on the end like the 36mm. However, I see dots….. so *♀️ I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow. Thank you all for your time, and for helping me resolve this problem. Here’s the pic of their backs. One is stamped Rolex, the other is not. *♀️ |

It was obvious from the photos that there was something ‘off’ about that watch. Further reading suggests that not all that’s off - the jeweler, dials, the OP, the entire story.

The OP? I’m off? The entire story is off? How do you come to that conclusion? I’m merely sharing my experience to get helpful insight from knowledgeable Rolex enthusiasts, so I don’t end up unknowingly having spent $13K on aftermarket Rolex watches. I don’t want to offend my jeweler by questioning their authenticity if they are in fact real, despite their imperfections. Rolex doesn’t produce imperfect watch times, and therefore, I question their authenticity. |

What I suspect and hope has happened here is that you were originally sold two Rolex watches that had been fitted with aftermarket parts at some time (specifically the dials) and likely hands also. Hands are a common service replacement. The dial in your watch is not a genuine Rolex dial. That doesn't automatically mean the rest of your watch or watches is/are not authentic and the crown, case, bezel, cyclops magnifier and date font all look fine for that reference of that age. Thats not to say they are all correct, but they look authentic. From the pictures posted, your watch appears to be quite heavily worn and quite old. Non genuine diamond dials are not that uncommon in older Rolex watches but do of course signifiantly reduce value. What is concerning is the amount of time it has taken the jeweller to source the dials and that's worth a question as to why. As for the new dials, I'm no expert but the new dials look authentic to me. Personally given all that's happened I would ask for a full refund plus a gesture towards your significant inconvenience and the time taken, and look elsewhere for replacement. Alternatively, I'd have the dials swapped and ask the jeweller to pay for a full service and refurbishment if not with a Rolex Service Centre who may refuse to work on them if the new dials are not to the original specification of the watches but with one of the specialists like https://www.rolliworks.com/ or http://www.lawatchworks.com/ who can n ot only validate and service the watches but refinish them to a high standard.
