I prefer a DJ with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. The flashy colors on the OPs do nothing for me.

Are the basic color OP's actually selling at that 12k range? Or are they being listed at the inflated price, and either sitting, or is the gray dealer accepting a lower offer for the more basic colors? Outside of the Coral, Yellow, Green, Tiffany Blue, I'd speculate the other colors are selling closer to the smooth DJ 41 price range.

Yep. OPs have long been considered the "entry level" Rolex. But then they put out a bunch of fancy color dials and the hype machine began to spin. In a few years I suspect they will settle back to they orginal status as a nice but nothing fancy watch and a less expensive way to get into a Rolex.

Yes, here it's about watches, not who you are, or what you are. To each his own.

Obviously certain colours will probably always command slightly more than others due to the fact they were discontinued quite early, and all the time the Rolex hype train is running, that sort of stuff will be seen as "important" to many. Personally speaking, I think Rolex made a very smart move with these colourways as it took what genuinely is their entry level piece, and made it desirable. By being a bit 'fun' and different they made it appeal to lots of people, including (crucially for demand) to various celebs... which in turn immediately makes it more desirable to those who value, adore and are influenced by "celebritiness". Another massive win for Rolex all round.

Ton a gatekeepers here that hate the idea of new people entering their gated community. Which is why so much dislike of the new colors because they bring new, less stodgy people to the brand. It’s why some people hate nicknames. It’s something that makes the hobby more accessible.
As far as the watch, I’ve got the regular blue version. It’s one of my most worn pieces. For all the people that say the OP is flashy compared to the Datejust, I say it’s the opposite. The datejust has the polished center links, the cyclops, the (sometimes) fluted bezel. The OP is by far the most understated Rolex you can own. Which is why I, and I imagine many other folks, like it so much. |

Wow! Questioning my knowledge of Rolex, and bringing people’s sexual preferences into this discussion, in the same post?! The first ever Rolex watch was produced in 1929, and was, indeed, the Oyster Perpetual. And, I’m assuming your bringing the LGBTQ community into this discussion has something to do with rainbow colors? I don’t even know how to respond to that statement, except to say, we don’t discriminate against any group, based on gender, sexual preference, political affiliation, religion, etc. How about you go troll some other forum? You are way out of line. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Also, Rolex started in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis and officially became Montres Rolex S.A. in 1920 then Rolex S.A. The trademark for the Rolex name was secured in 1908. A Rolex had already been the first wristwatch to bear a Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision in 1911. 😂 |

It surprises me that anyone, who works at a Rolex AD, would denigrate any of their models, and it’s not the best idea, for you to do it either, on a forum dedicated to the brand. We don’t put down other members’ watches here. What is the point of that? I love my OP, as much as any of my Rolexes. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Many people thing Panerais are ugly / weird, guess what, I don’t GAF, I like them. But then again, I don’t seek approval from anonymous strangers on an Internet forum. I’m glad you’re proud of your OPs — love that for you |

For a while I wanted the yellow OP.
Now, I think I'd rather have the FPJ Octa S Ti yellow dial. Much more fun! In all seriousness though, the OP watches with smooth bezels and colorful dials are more fun than my more boring black stick dial DJ with fluted bezel. It's dressier and "more professional" for certain. I love dial variations. So I wouldn't mind picking up a couple different colors of OP long term for the rotation. Black gets boring. |

No offense to me personally. We’re all here for similar reasons, and hopefully having cordial two-way discussions is one of them
