My dad had lasik years ago and does not recommend it and then years later had the cataract surgery and paid for the expensive lens replacement. He did well with that. |

I had my surgery at 49. The worst of my two cataracts was an “injury” cataract from getting hit in the eye in college.

Wow! That’s young to need it. I’m probably the typical age for the surgery: 60’s. I act and look younger than my age, but there is no escaping some age related ailments. The most important thing is to get regular medical check ups and screenings, to stay as healthy, as we can. Working out regularly is important, too. Nurse Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Years later & I'm still pretty much the youngest patient I've seen at my doctors office. My experience was relatively good, although unfortunately, having my "good eye" done, resulted in a significant (from my perspective) astigmatism. To me, it looks almost as bad as my other eye did pre surgery. Post surgery, it was 20/20, now its in the 20/40 range and "dirty". The surgeon did a correction on it 2 years ago, but it made no noticeable improvement. I think we're reviewing it again this year to see if another surgery makes sense. All in all, I'm better off than I was before surgery, and having the multi-focal lenses is a nice alternative to glasses. I do need reading glasses if trying to read in low light, but at daylight levels, it's a non-issue. |

I had both of mine done weeks apart of course over two years ago. I waited longer than I should as I basically got to the point I wasn’t really even using my right eye. I now need readers where I didn’t use glasses before but still having the cataract removed was just a matter that had to be dealt with. I took the drops but I’m glad my wife was there to help. For me it was pretty smooth sailing. Definitely easier than my partial knee replacement the following year.
Good luck Kat.

Thank you, Dan. 1 week to go, and the second one will be done. The biggest pain in the butt is the eye drops 4 times a day for 4 weeks straight. I’ll be glad when that’s over. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

My SO had to postpone her second eye scheduled today. She is still having trouble seeing out of the one they did last week. However, she says it's finally starting to get better as of this morning. In her word, "the ice is starting to melt." |
