Another one bites the dust . . .

Just learned that Atlanta-area AD Tara Fine Jewelry recently lost its AD status for both Rolex and Tudor. They’re good folks but a one location mom and pop in kind of an outlying suburb, and not in a major retail area (about 25 miles north of Atlanta proper) . . .

Sissy’s is still there and the other one was brutal to deal with.

Yeah I found out about it from my SA at Sissy's when I went to pick up my wife's 38mm. I told Bob once I left my chronograph running all the time for a 2nd time zone and he about came unglued .

Sad to see these smaller shops disappear.

I bought my first Rolex at Overgaard Jewellers back in the early 90’s. He had a very small store, like less than 1000 square feet, with one or two small display cases of Rolex. The rest was jewelry.

Nevertheless, the owner Grant Overgaard, was a knowledgeable, and enthusiastic watch fanatic. I used to walk by his shop and stare in the window (often) enough that he took notice

One day, he saw me and invited me in, (I was too nervous to go in on my own, and I knew I couldn’t afford one), but he took the time to educate me on the brand when I was just in my late teens.

A few years later when I had my first job, and saved enough money, I bought my first Rolex from him (a 16600 SeaDweller).

Not surprising. Rolex seems to be phasing out the smaller family AD's.

What’s everyone’s recent experience with Brown and Mayors?
