Someone on a Facebook group I’m in said “there is no such thing as beater watch”. Wha
I was at the Magnum PI Facebook group and I made a remark about how a Chronosport Sea Quartz 30 would be a great beater watch and a guy replied to me “there is no such thing as a beater watch”.
What are your thoughts on his statement? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

One man’s beater is another man’s grail.
And remember your favorite t-shirt, that you now use to paint the house, and work on your car.

It’s sort of too clever by half, but I like it. To me, it speaks to a love of watches that transcends status. Adam (with a few G-Shocks) and Brian (with his trusty SKX009) demonstrate that, as do many others.

Not only are there beater watches, but there are different degrees of beater watches. There are beaters like my G-Shock, which is like the ultimate beater of all beaters. By the way, I love my G-Shock, but it is what it is. Totally replaceable if it comes down to that.
And then there is my Omega Seamaster, which is my more dressed-up, luxury beater watch. But I could see how someone could cherish all their watches to the point where none of them can be classified as a beater. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ask Jocke to show his beater watch! There truly is such a thing. Cheers

Everyone should have a beater/traveler watch that they can wear without worrying about getting destroyed or stolen. Mine are a 20 year old titanium citizen eco chrono for travel and an ancient timex Ironman for outdoors camping fishing biking. Whatever works.

Of course there is. Michael Jackson even wrote a song about it.

It's a belief system, like make-believe religion. If you say it's a "beater watch", then it's a beater watch.

I sort of get the sentiment OP. Sure this watch isn’t expensive but I don’t really “beat” on anything I value Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

All of my watches are beater watches. I don’t buy museum pieces that sit in a box only to admired as horological art. I buy watches that go where I go.

As you can see I got into a bit of a "scuffle" in the store over it.

I beg to differ! There isn't a nanometer on my Polar without a scratch. It is very much a beater to me. Even my G-Shocks don't look this beat up.

Someone on the internet said something you don't completely agree with? How are you able to sleep?

I thought the internet was all about connection and forming lifelong friendships over common interests.

I agree. Mine is a Seiko Turtle SRPE03. It does it all from travel to mowing the grass.

until they stop designing car seatbelts to deliver a precision ding to your watch every time you release them, then I say all watches are beaters
