The serial number is the number located between the lugs that begins with a letter It's also located on the papers issued with purchase. The style number is also on the papers, as well as, on the back of the case on the hologram

The SN is etched into the case on the '6' side and, after 1987, starts with a letter. You would have to take off the bracelet to see this.

Current series is Z, but quite a few D-series Rolex watches are still rolling out.

The serial no. should read like this, e.g. Z-135678, i.e. the letter followed by six digits.

The Y8073** is nothing to do with country code thats your watch serial number Y letter is from September 2002The country code is only on the green Rolex certificate not on watch ,now on every Rolex Warranty there is a 3 digit perforated number that precedes the perforated Serial number of your watch. This number is a reference to which country the watch was originally sent to by Rolex Geneva.

Hi Sam,

What Padi is referring to is this....take a look at the pic below in the top right hand corner. The 810 on the left represents Australia (from where NZ gets its Rolex stock, i.e. Rolex HQ, Melbourne, Australia). The serial number follows on the right starting with the letter D-XXXXXX (and 6 digits)!!

Cheers - JJ

what is the different between daytona Z serial number with the D, is it just the manufacture date or something else, I buy ss Daytona with black face, D serial number and 430 country codes at Rp 97.000.000 1US=RP 9200 so it about 10500 US.

No difference whatsoever. Z is the current series. D was the previous one. Since the D has almost come to an end, the Z has started up. It's just an identification letter for the start of a series...nothing else. The watches are the SAME!!
