No Love for the Dates?

Well, I made another payment to my dealer on my Date that I have on Layaway ($1600 left!) and keep thinking. I rarely EVER see a person with a Date on. I know Rolex 'Retired" the Date series and all. I just wonder why I don't see people showing off their Dates that they have on this forum (if any at all).

I want a Date badly. Just wanna pay off the LV first. Want a TT Date with a black dial with diamonds on it. Oyster bracelet. One of the quintesential most beautiful Rolex in my opinion.

I had one and miss it. I might get one again someday but I will be a datejust just because Its a little bigger. Im too used to the 40mm now that the 34mm is just too small now. But regardless I loved my date 15200

Chimpy, there has been NO OFFICIAL announcement that the Date model has been, as you put it, RETIRED! So stop passing along that rumor until and unless you hear direct from the Rolex people that is truthful.

Rolex makes a number of announcements at the annual watch show in Basel which takes place next month. Rolex affectionianados are free to speculate about what new styles and models may or may not appear or disappear as the case may be, but there has been nothing offically said as of today.

Truly, the Date and Air King models aren't the most popular in this and many other forums, and it tends to sell in much larger quantities in Asia where many prefer a 34mm/smaller size timepiece, but it's still being made and sold and serviced.

In fact, there is one rumor floating around by someone on a European forum that there are going to be some new Date options announced in Basel this year, but that too is just a rumor, so take it for what it's worth.

I would imagine Date models are selling pretty steadily to women these days. A 34mm watch looks really nice on a ladies wrist.

Most people who love the styling and design of the DATE model at 34 mm, would rather go up one step and buy the Datejust at 36 mm.

Just my 2 cents.
