My orange hand

You all have given me renewed respect for a quiet, dependable old friend. I picked her up for a song in the early 80's and she has been an almost constant companion ever since. Now I look here and my unassuming little timepiece maybe a star in her own right, its also a good opportunity to show off a Rolex that always seems to blend into the background.

Sorry I didn't have the correct lens, and she is a bit dirty from being worn doing spring yard work, but here is my 1974(5?), orange hand, 1655!

Welcome, great looking vintage.
Seems like it has served you well. The dial and hands look they have nicely aged, don't get them changed if you get the watch serviced by Rolex.
This model is very collectable and has gone up significantly in value over the years.
It is easy to polish the crystal to get those scratches out. Regards

Welcome - looks like it has had some good loving over the years. Little TLC and she would be looking good as new!

Have you ever had it serviced?

close for a guess but it is a 406xxxx serial.

and while I am at it, maybe a few more bad photos of the old girl, before she cleans up a tad, are in order.

When I say clean I just mean taking off the surface grime, like you wipe down a wrench before you put it back in the toolbox. Not much more then some soap and water, and a wipe with a nice soft warm fluffy towel. Nothing extreme, just the basic care you would show any good tool, or like a shower after a long day of work. She's no closet queen, her dings and scrapes are all honorable battle scars she wears proudly.

Great watch and nice to know some 1655's get worn every day.
My one doesn't as in my work it would be unrestorable in a week or two.
It also cost me too much money

Yeah, I thought it was close. Your dial is a <25, I believe these came after the T SWISS T dials circa mid 70s, or so. Beautifull vintage piece. The bracelet was replaced? 1655s came with a non-divers bracelet. A 78360 with 580s is correct.
If the watch has not been serviced recently, I'd do that before Rolex stops servicing the 1575 movement. DO NOT send to Rolex for any work!! They'll force a dial and hands change. New crystal, crown, tube, is fine and will not impact the value of your watch.
I see you're in Boston, if you need the name of a GOOD guy who is Rolex certified and with a parts account shoot me a PM.
Congrats on a great watch!!

Beautiful watch, yeti. That's probably the only watch with orange on it that I actually like.

If you saw the dirt between the links of my watch you would run to the soap and water and demand me clean it!
