New Guy

Good morning guys,
I have been reading all over this forum for about the last month and now figured I should jump on board. I just graduated from Univ of Florida this past december and now have a good job and no debt so far so I feel I am moving up in the world, a little. ha ha. Anyway I am hoping to get my first Rolex here pretty soon and really like the Submarnier with black face and bezel but for some reason I have a thing for the GMT with the red and blue bezel too.

I am passoniate about hunting fishing and diving and enjoy "nice" equipment that goes along with those activites. Its a wonder I dont have any debt with my taste in nice shotguns. Anyway I am looking forward to being a part of this and can not wait to get my first one.

Welcome aboard, pal.

Sub or GMT-II....how can you possibly go wrong with either one? Both excellent time-pieces. Good luck in your final choice and hope you enjoy your stay on this forum.

Cheers - JJ

Welcome to TRF! Glad to have you on board... its nice to hear that you've finished College/University with no debt - that's a hell of a way to start!

Plus you've got a job too!

A question: When you write "really like the Submarnier with black face and bezel", do you then mean the Submariner Date (Ref. 16610) or the Submariner OP (no date), Ref. 14060M?

It is no "wise-ass" question, but I am just curious

Welcome and Congrats!

Choosing between the two watches is not only a matter of personal preference, but also like getting to choose between two hot chicks. Either way, you're in for a great time. Or, you can just not choose and take both*.

If you know want to get a NEW watch, though, and aren't thinking about dropping $10K on both, I'd suggest the GMT-II. Rolex has stopped production on it and pretty soon it will be hard to get one BNIB. If you're thinking about buying pre-loved or don't care that the watch is new....good luck on your decision!

Okay

I for my part am getting more and more tempted by the 14060M. It is such a beautiful and "clean" watch to look at. And I like that it still has lug holes and non SEL (Solid End Links)

BTW: I have just read on a German watch forum that a 14060M (well, probably with another ref. #) has been seen in an AD window display that has the COSC writing on the dial!!

At the Baselworld 2007 Fair, Rolex announced that ALL Rolexes were to become COSC from now on. So probably, the Sub spotted is one of the first to appear!

But - as "Padi56" has stated in other threads/posts, the COSC rating is more of a sales' gimmick than necessary. The 14060M as we know it now could easily - and DOES easily! - perform well within the COSC ratings.

Welcome!
LOL! I KNEW with a name like that there must be a smoothbore in there somewhere!

Guys have given great advice. The R/B 16710 is out of production so if you can scoop one up might be a wise move down the road.

Bo makes an excellent point about the COSC 14060M. Might be something that not many will have if changes occur to the sub line in the future.

Anyway, good luck on the choice and there's not a loser in the bunch.

Hey, I'm new too wingshooter and....I'm a wingshooter too I should say. I have the shotgun addiction myself with a strong proclivity for expensive small bore doubles. Enjoy and see you around.
