1973 Omega Speedmaster Professional Mk. II with "Racing Dial"

Omega 145.014 cal. 861 Speedmaster Professional Mark II, 321xxxxx movement number places the watch around 1973.

Original "racing dial" and hands are in remarkable condition, the color is really vibrant - quite often these come up on the boards and the auction site with grubby, faded dials. The case shows dings and scratches consistent with a watch that's about to turn forty - but - I think it's actually unpolished, which I know is a term that is grossly overused and drives vintage collectors crazy. But take a look at the sunburst scoring and clean case lines.

The movement was serviced by George Aloi at Tempus Fugit here in NYC in February of last year (no docs, sorry). Some of you guys saw the Moon Watch I had listed last week - I had this one cleaned and oiled at the same time. Non-hacking cal. 861 movement is running well, all chronograph functions working properly and resetting to zero. Power reserve around 40 hours. Sorry about the lack of movement picks, I don't have the tools or know-how to open the caseback. I am allowing for an inspection period for your watchmaker to take a look inside (see terms below).

Many people asked about water resistance when I had the Moon Watch up - I'll give the same response in advance here: I didn't get it pressure tested, because a chronograph without screw-down pushers is not something I would ever dip in the drink, especially if it 40 years old. It has enough water resistance, I imagine, for a rainy day or a sweaty summer.

There's one scratch on the upper panel and one on the crystal (around 1:00) that are kind of a bummer. I decided to just live with them, but I'll let the next owner decide how to proceed. These two flaws are visible in the pics and are factored in to my asking price.

Two bracelets are included: an "Hecho en Mexico" jubilee (which is one of my favorite Omega Bracelets) and the original 1162/173. Both are sized for my 7" wrist, and both included to extra links, which will buy you another 3/4 of an inch.

No box, but some docs: When I bough the watch, it came with a Speedmaster pamphlet, a cal. 861 instruction pamphlet, and an "International Guarantee" booklet with the back cover missing. The guarantee booklet is curiously punched "2011" but I think that's a coincidence - it looks really old.

Overall TZ rating an honest 84%.

I'm like to get $1650. I'll listen to offers, but if I don't get one reasonably close to that I'll probably part one of the bracelets. Price includes Paypal fees (verified addresses only) and overnight shipping. USA deals only, I don't want to deal with the hassles of international shipping. Face-to-face in NYC is an option, and will certainly earn you a discount.

Three-day inspection period, during which I will accept a return only if I've misrepresented the watch in any way. I won't take it back because of garden-variety buyer's remorse, though.

E-mail me with any questions you might have, I'll do my best to answer them indetail. I have references, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for looking!
