Here's my hierarchy:
#1: The ones I like #2: The ones I dislike ... In all seriousness I like them all in a different way, some more than others but I wouldn't be able to put them in a specific order as they're all too different!

Well I'm a yellow/rose gold fan myself so it is one of the things I look at when I shop for watches (although I do have my "I need a stainless steel model" moments). I also happen to like diamonds on certain models and MOP dials although I've never owned such models (as of yet at the very least). The reference will always depend on my mood but I prefer smaller watches. As for the style I happen to wear more dress watches than sports models but I still have both in my collection. ...As you can see it's hard for me to have a very clear hierarchy in my head but you may get a little idea by those information!

IMHO a Rolex is a Rolex. Yea some cost much more than others but I don't think there is really a hierarchy.

IMHO...
The movement inside is the thing, Not the encrusted case of bling. So in my top 5: Daytona, YM-II, DD, Explorer, Milgauss

I agree that the movement is the most important thing, A watch is so much more than a mere diamond ring Right, anyway, here is my run down of watches in terms of the movements I consider to be the best 1) Sky-Dweller - cal. 9001 2) Yacht-Master II - cal. 4160 3) GMT Master II/Explorer II - cal. 3186/3187 4) Daytona - cal. 4130 5) Day-Date/Day Date II - cal. 3155/3156 6) Submariner Date/Yacht-Master/ Datejust/Datejust II/Date - cal. 3135/3136 7) Submariner/Explorer/Milgauss/OP/Air King - cal. 3130/3131/3132 I think that's everything, you can berate me later if I've missed anything Chris |

YM-II, Explorer II 42mm, are the only new models I'm interested in. For Tudor there are a bunch but I cannot abide the super-case of the SubC or the "top-hat" factor of the DSSD.

I look at it from a different point of view from most...
I rate the Subs and Explorers at the top of the tree since I think they are what Rolex does best. They are tough, simple watches built to last and take knocks. If I want complications, a beautiful finish or an elegant gold dress watch I'll go to other manufactures who IMO are better at that sort of thing.

I don't see what the problem is in rating Rolex, or any product, by price. Toyota makes the Corolla and the Lexus LS. Mercedes has classes, e.g. C, E, S, etc. I don't think referring to the Mercedes S class sedan as the brand's "flagship" is an insult to the C class (a car I drove for 4 years, years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed).
Rolex makes watches that sell for less money, and for more money, than my Yachtmaster. I love the look of the ladies' white gold masterpiece Pearlmaster. I do not think my watch is a "lesser" watch, but obviously it costs less money. A SS Air King costs less, and does less, than a white gold Daytona does. Many here, however, would prefer an AK, Explorer, etc, to a WG Daytona. If people truly think all Rolexes are equal, then fine, but it is no insult to rate watches by preference. As a woman, for everyday wear, I prefer watches that have bezels to those that don't. I never really fell i love with the ladies' Datejust. My friends with ladies' Datejusts absolutely love their watches, and do not want a sporty watch like mine. I also prefer a woman's sized watch on my wrist, but acknowledge that many love the look of women wearing men's watches. As a whole, though, I think Rolex has better offerings in men's sizes than in women's. But, I have noticed that other fine watch brands have even slimmer pickings for women, or if they offer a woman's watch then the watches are quartz. |

There are very few luxery watches that are comparable to the Rolex air king in its price range.
