GMT-C BLNR and Explorer II

I was able to borrow a GMT 116710 BLNR from my pals at Fourtané for an Everest Strap review on A Blog to Watch. While I had the 116710 BLNR, I made some quick comparisons to the Explorer II 216570.

The blue–black bezel is a first in the watch industry and known within the Rolex cognoscente as the Rolex BMT Bruiser or GMT Batman because of its iconic colors. Solid colored ceramic bezels are nothing new to Rolex, but the GMT BLNR (BLNR for Bleu/Noir or blue/black) is the first time two colors are incorporated into one ceramic bezel insert by any Swiss watch company, and the research Rolex pursued to accomplish this feat is well worth the effort.

I have more on this posted at http://www.minus4plus6.com/216570.htm#blnr

Cheers,

Sheldon

Very nice article. The Explorer II makes a great comparison watch for the GMT Master II.

Wow, this is great information. I am also considering one of these 2 wonderful pieces as my next addition.

Thanks for the effort.

Recognition of Explorer II

So good to see warm-fuzzes given to the Explorer II---in the shadow of the new GMT. I think the Explorer II polar is beautiful on the wrist, as easy to read quickly as is my pam 312 with the Rolex ruggedness. Great article.

Great article Sheldon
I've just bought the GMT BLNR and absolutely love it on my wrist and agree that its not clumsy or unsightly and sits well
