Nice looking watch. I wonder how many Mecca edition watches Patek produced as these watches don't come up on the auction very often.

It's interesting that there are Patek MRs from 2013/2014 being sold on the auction. I wonder who buys these MRs and flips them immediately on the auction floor?

Exactly. I thought patek shunned flippers? What gives.

I heard about Patek shunning flippers as well. I recently heard a story of an application piece that went to auction within 2-3 months of the purchase date. Patek asked the watch owner why he decided to sell this watch and he flat out lied saying he still owned the watch. Of course Patek was the highest bidder of the watch at the auction, so they knew he was lying. He was supposedly barred from getting any more application pieces.

I have also heard of someone flipping their 5131 after a year of ownership. The reason given was that the owner "got tired of the watch", which was an acceptable reason.

Getting back to topic, I don't know what the Mecca edition was originally sold for, but the target price range is $110K-$200K USD equiv. I believe the current 5130P retails for ~ $65K USD and a LE probably wasn't that much more than the normal production piece.

150
For me it's just another worldtimer with a different color.
I don't understand the estimate.
There are worldtimers with green, beige, black.... And the 5130P which is now in production has a blue dial.

So I don't get the price..... It is just a different color.

Nice watch but imo not collectable. AP And panerai do it all the time a different color and they call it a LE.

I agree that the Mecca edition is just another color dial with a different city name. It is not as if they produced a titanium version or a SS version. It really depends on what a collector values the watch. If a Saudi oil tycoon really wants one, I am sure price would not be a factor.

Sold for $144,402! Not bad!!

For comparison, a standard 5130P sold for $45,125!

Wow, that is quite a sum, in the range of the 5131. I don't know how many Mecca editions were produced, but I am sure it was a lot less than the number of 5131 that has been produced to date.
