For me blue is always a fine choice and less is more if there is doubt about options..
strikes me as a bit of a paradox to choose WG, for a custom piece when your intent was PT? i don't believe i would make the concession simply on price, would a less detailed engraving option be a way to keep the PT? what also struck me is this incoming may potentially beat the record holder for the previous longest incoming … i forget who held the title congrats on the journey

I wanted PT when the idea was the simple Vingt-8, no caseback, no engraving, I can't justify or afford to put 40+K just to have PT instead of WG, this is way and beyond my limits |

I prefer making a concession on the PT rather than what you suggested, making a less detailed ingraving, but between the same watch with the platinum one costing 40K more than the WG, is a total no brainer for me

I suggest put it like it is the picture...on the lid outside next to engraving...while I am normally conservative, in this case it is a very important and beautiful fact that shouldn't be relegated to an invisible corner ...lovely watches Karl and Angus..so cool.

Karl did you go PT? Please say yes.
If it were me and I'm having a watch made, I'd design it the way I want. I would not settle to save a few thousand here or there--get the perfect watch period, knowing I'd be keeping it forever. I agree, PT is the way to go on something like this for me. Nipples look better in platinum, IMHO. |

I do look forward to your choice of caseback. I assume the more women the higher the price? Will be worth every penny |

The deal I am getting is a great one, if getting it in PT was 15K more, in worse case 20, probably would do it, but not for more than 40. Quote:

Lol, at first my order was clear back in PT, then I thought that a sexy engraved case back on top would just be perfect, I know I'm an old school guy, but for me the engraved caseback is 50% what makes the watch so unique, always found them to be one of the nicest thing ever on a watch |

And if those faces are the best that Kari’s engraver can manage, then I’d seriously urge you to forget about the Officer’s Back altogether. I read something about Viking women – are you a descendant of Viking origin? Dial side looks beautifully expensive, then you flip it over it – and it looks tacky and cheap. Stick with the display case back only, assuming you don’t have a family coat of arms to have engraved instead. Moreover, by dispensing with the engraved back, does that make going for a regular Platinum case a viable option? |

You know that many high end horology brands have a history of soft porn, either with engraved case backs, either with a moving scene. I love the type of engraving I posted, but mine will be of 1 female warrior, and not viking, greek-roman style. I thought about putting our coat of arms, but decided not to, though think will put the family devise "ferrum ferro, ferro feror" I carry steel, steel carries me... These are their coat of arms, the thought did go through my head, but this is on my mothers side, and in France aristocratic title and right to bear arms, coat of, are passed on only by men, not women, if women could do it, I would be a marquis, not joking... For those who like History, my family is Montalembert d'Esse, you wouldn't imagine what kind of ancestors I have, a Paris street is named in honor of one of them, but it's the aristocracy which lost everything, until 1960 they had many properties and castles, now nothing left, the castle in which my mother was born now belongs to a communist run commune near Paris image.gif image.jpeg |

Yes Karl, PJ isn't fan of the caseback whereas I love it, I will not even budge on this, always wanted one Well I certainly prefer the watch Kari wears, congrats on the PR. Maybe you should as well make your own thread about your journey. What colors did you choose, blue or blue and grey? |

Sounds like part of getting the 'great deal' was taking the case back that he already has made? I'm assuming you could change it before he makes the watch??? You asked for feedback, so we all are just talking--no right or wrong. It's your watch |

My thread has no porn sadly although Sven Andersen is an interesting watchmaker...I only have all those boring details like how often do you service, service times, guarantee periods, what happens when you die blah blah blah

Congrats! I love it.
If it was for me, I'd go with the caseback. I love the idea of opening to view the movement (I assume there's s sapphire under the solid back? Is it hinged or does it just come off?). I would however go with a more muted design. No naked warrior chicks for me ... well, not on my watch anyway :) I agree with you re. WG vs platinum. Platinum is an incredible material, but 40k is not a few bucks here and there. I would add a power reserve. If the choice would be Platinum + PR vs. caseback ... there wouldn't be a choice for me. I have no idea how the money works though.

Of course under the caseback you have the back of most watches, exhibition back, the caseback is attached on one side, I always loved the idea, as well as some engravings like the one I posted, but mine should be nicer, in any case I am getting it that won't change |
