I've traveled all over the world to 40+ countries in the past 5 or 6 years alone. I can only think of two occasions where I was without a Rolex or Patek (for specific reasons). I don't think it makes you more or less vulnerable to any problems, just always be diligent and smart no matter if you are traveling with only the shirt on your back or with a briefcase full of cash.
With that said, I have noticed more attention in airports than in cities. You are in close proximity to thousands of people and it's a hotspot for pickpockets, some of which do have a trained attention to Rolex. Always longs sleeves in the airport for me until I'm in the priority security line and headed to the lounge. I've actually run into the same pickpocket at least three times at schiphol airport. |
