I think more is going on here. I suspect foul play as well.
Not saying it isn't karma if you believe in such a thing.

When hunting wild game often that game is equally hunting you. While I do hunt and fish I'm not a trophy hunter. If I harvest an animal it is always eaten. I've never had the desire to hunt anything in Africa.

Only tho to learn how to survive. I've got enormous respect for sustanance hunters. It's the purest form of nature via the food chain. Hunting for pleasure, I'll never understand. I can understand a sustenance hunter enjoying the process. But thrilling in the kill? Enjoying ending a life? I'll never understand that.... That's what makes us the most flawed species on the planet. Imho.

The Crocodile said to the other Crocodile, "tastes like chicken!"
I imgine he suffered but not to the extent of all the animals he needlessly killed for fun. If you hunt it or fish it you eat it. IMHO

I had a cape buffalo hunt planned in the 90's. We were all geared up and ready to fly, but an insurrection intervened and the trip was cancelled at the last minute. Buffalo are quick, stealthy, aggressive, and once they charge at you are very difficult to stop. They will also circle back and attack the hunter. The first shot needs to be right, or you can have a pretty bad day. The buffalo doesn't have an even chance, but his odds are better than just about anything hunted in North America. This hunt is still on my bucket list. |

Good point.
I'm not much of a cat fan either. I've met some great cats. But for the most part, meh.

I have no issues with hunting if you're going to eat the meat, use the skin, etc...
I am on the fence about hunting for sport, especially big game. Sure, some people will argue that hunting is actually good because some animals become dangerous when their old and pose a threat to the other animals (is that any different than the 100 year old ladies you see on the road behind the wheel of a 5000lb Lincoln Grand Marquis???), but who knows... I have always wanted to shoot an elephant rifle, though. Something that fires a ridiculous round like the 700 nitro express! |

700 NE will hurt you Seth. I've shot 600 NE and it was downright painful. Start with a medium caliber, like 416 Rigby, then decide how your pain tolerance is working out for large calibers. |

I do enjoy the hunt. Nice crisp fall day hunting pheasants. It's great to be outside and in nature. Hunting with a pointing dog is amazing. The way they work the field and come on point is really amazing to see and experience. The birds are always eaten. The way the dog retrieves the birds is also amazing. It's not the harvesting of the animal per se...it's the enjoyment of the hunt. And pheasants are really good to eat.
