It's a trend today - another first time Omega owner
But, I’ve violated my own doctrine. I have always stated that I would never acquire a new watch without seeing it in the flesh first. There have simply been too many occasions of seeing a wrist shot of a timepiece on a forum only to be disappointed when I finally saw it in the flesh. There simply wasn’t that emotional connection.
When Omega presented its 1957 Trilogy 60th Anniversary collection during Baselworld 2017, I was immediately blown away. I could not believe that Omega didn’t try to “modernize” these pieces as its peers would have done. Granted, since I have scrawny wrists, I may be biased! These re-editions had me at a “virtual hello.” I couldn’t sleep that night. Despite my best efforts, I could not get these images out of my mind. Every time I would try to convince myself it was time to pull the trigger, the questions would come in rapid fire: What about my sworn doctrine? Is seeing truly believing? Are these images perhaps a little too promotional with lighting tricks? How would it sit on my wrists? Will it still provide that “wow” factor in the flesh? Although I tend to make data-driven decisions, I’ve learned you need to go with your gut when you cannot perform thorough due diligence. I decided to take a leap of faith. My confidence was strong enough to pull the trigger while partially blind. It was a tough choice between the Speedmaster and the Seamaster 300. Please allow me to introduce my first Omega: Initial wrist shot after sizing and setting the time: Speedy10 by Mark Munion, on Flickr First wrist shot in natural lighting: Speedy13 by Mark Munion, on Flickr I was anxious about the size of the clasp. But, I must say, it's not a concern at all: Speedy12 by Mark Munion, on Flickr The drive home was very dangerous. Couldn't stop looking at my wrist. Wouldn't recommend: Speedy15 by Mark Munion, on Flickr If you look closely, you can see the embedded Omega logo on the crystal is pointing approximately 260 degrees instead of true north: Speedy19 by Mark Munion, on Flickr Overall, it's absolutely stunningly beautiful in the flesh. At times, it was excruciatingly torturous seeing all these photos online during the past few months. There was an intense mixture of excitement and anxiety having not seen this piece in the flesh. Of course, Omega’s lack of communication didn’t help. The late Tom Petty sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” My cover with an Omega twist would be - “Not knowing is the hardest part!” Post-Acquisition Lessons Learned: One must take risks in the ever addicting watch pursuit. HAGWE! I know I will! Mark |

Awesome new piece. You also need Sm FYI. The sizes of the 60th are bliss for <6.75
