PC Monitor/TV Is curved really better?

Anybody help me out with your experience. I want to upgrade my PC monitor, right now a standard 24 inch, to a bigger (and better) model. I was thinking 32 inch flat screen, but then Samsung had a 27 inch curved that looked pretty slick. Also, a 32 inch curved that really looked nice. So... does anyone use curved screens either for TV and/or PC monitors? Does it really make a difference? Worth the extra money?

I read where curved screens may reduce eye fatigue... for me if I were in the market, that could be a plus if buying a really big tv.

Then, there is Consumer Reports that say if a tv screen is viewed from the side (for period of time), actually can cause eye fatigue....

The curve only works best from one very specific point of view. TV no way. Monitor for a PC possibly.

I have a 65" curved Samsung tv. I can't appreciate the curve when watching...

Though, they are marketing geniuses by putting a flat panel next to the curved one. It was easily distinguishable at the time of purchase. Cost me several more hundred $$$$

I have an OLED but not the wallpaper kind. Even moving mione would be a task. Picture and especially 4K is awesome!! You can see the dust on the table. It really is like looking out one's window. Content is everything.

I’ve just seen reviews on the internet but I’d like to see in person. Just seeing how thin it is amazes me. I can’t imagine what will be around in another 10-15 years.

Yeah, and I thought mine was thin. I mean I was amazed how much thinner mine was when compared to an Led.

I have a Samsung 65 curved screen 4k.....not because I wanted curved because its all they offered in what i wanted.

Curved is a gimmick, doesn't do anything for me when I tried both desktop & loungeroom usage. (the only Curved screen that gave a better picture IMHO is the Sony Trinitron tube... and that's because it's NOT curved up/down)

Depends what you're doing with your PC, if I need max real estate I run a single 24" widescreen or twin 17" 4:3s.

Dell is now making some extra wide monitors if you really want THX fullscreen. But it's so big I get giddy looking all around desktop to find the cursor & icons.

Is Samsung made inflatables... they'd definitely BLOW UP!!

Curved screens are a silly gimmick, the reflections are the main problem. With a flat screen you can move your monitor/screen to eliminate reflections from your viewing position. With a curved screen you'll always have a reflection somewhere (unless the room is dark).

Curved screens were only made because the technology was available to do it, not because there was any real need for it.

I have a flat OLED TV by choice, curved were offered as well when I purchased mine... when buying a computer monitor however, I went curved. I replaced 3 24” 1080 monitors with a 34” 1440 curved monitor and it works great since it only needs to cater to my seating position. Whatever I little screen real estate I lost is made up by the lack of bezels between monitors.


That said, if I did drafting or similar PC work, curved would probably not be ideal.

I had a curved monitor at work for a few weeks. It didn't make anything particularly better, but it did lose a lot if I moved to the side. I now have two 24" LEDs that work very well.

Curved is a passing fad in my opinion. Check out BenQ 32” 4K monitors, very nice and several choices depending on your application.
