Heavily serviced GMT 16710

Hi all, long time lurker here and posting on behalf of a good friend who is interested in this watch, keen to see the TRF consensus on it.

Pass.

The market doesn't like service serial # / replaced midcases, so it's too expensive for what it is.

I'm not a fan of all of the service parts added to the watch, which honestly isn't very old. It makes you wonder how well the previous owner treated it. Also, the price isn't a good price either given the history - your friend could find a much better example in that price range. Just my $.02

Heavily serviced GMT 17610

Looks great for a daily wear. I’d wear it proudly, but then I’m no collector. The price is several thousand dollars above what it should’ve for such a non-original GMT, however.

Even if you were looking for an NOS example to wear and didn't mind the 4.4M serial number case, the hands have been replaced with Luminova. It's priced too high IMO.

If you're buying to wear and not collect then it might be worth negotiating. I'd much rather have tritium hands, however.

I’ll be devils advocate here. At least you know the watch is in great working order and has a fresh case. Price does seem a bit high, but it looks like a clean example to me

The case is outstanding. Nice non-thinned lugs and sharp edges....very nice. If you like it, buy it.

Whats the point of buying 20year old watch when half of the things are replaced, and it adds many £££ to the price. You could get a new ceramic GMT II for that price

As you can see from the posts above, that's exactly why it's a pass.

Too may "meh's" and ????

That makes it harder to sell again if need be. People in the market for that type of watch don't like baggage.

Well, at least it’s in good condition and all parts are original Rolex. As others have said, if you’re buying to wear and not collect it won’t matter. The price however should be a little lower.
