Certainly a different aesthetic and clearly different in function. From what I read, from a cold calculated price comparison you could buy a DSSD and a Pelagos and a Black Bay for the sticker price of the YMII.

Sometimes doing comparisons like these helps me evaluate amongst options.

I trust the OP's client has a special love for the Yatchmaster to be considering it. Maybe he races yatchs.

I'm in the YM-II camp. The DSSD does nothing for me. Even though the YM is dateless, I do like the countdown complication, even though I would probably never use it. If I'm going to have Rolex with a date (and I have 4 of them), I want the date window to have a cyclops. I can't stand the little date on the DSSD.

But that's just my .

That new YM II looks awesome! I must say, though, I've seen some very steep discounts on very lightly used white gold YM IIs, often times making them as close as $5k apart. If I had $20k to spend on a watch, I'd likely just wait it out more to get the white gold one!

That's not the problem, Mike. I don't wear or need reading glasses. It's more the aesthetics of the DSSD that I don't like.

My DSSD sees water. (Ducks before mods kick him out.)

All I have to say is YUCK YUCK YUCK to the Yachtmaster II font/writing on the bezel, each and every time I see it.. Not so bad on the white gold model as it's not as prominent.

They should've left it off

DSSD for me

Wow, I think I'm stuck on which one I prefer. If money is no object, I'd go YM2, but in reality, I would go DSSD.

DSSD for the knock-out!! Seriously, having the name of the watch on the bezel in huge fonts is a bit tacky and is very un-Rolex, who is an ultra-conservative company.

What's the point in only being able to time 10minutes totally useless the DSSD will time a whole hour with the bezel - YM is dumb
